Although they weren't "officially open" they were more than accommodating. Garmin directions are not reliable and they waited and even had someone direct me in when I was wondering around lost. Nestled in the whispering pines with Eagle Lake just across the street it was so peaceful I had to stay 3 nights. Eagle Lake appears to be succumbing to climate change with receeding shorelines and there is a quaint one runway airport between this resort and it. No hangers but there is a tied down 4 seater there. I'd love to watch it do some touch and go's. This place is just what I needed after being in the desert for a few years and leaving for the north too early. I was really missing the smell of pine. There is store on property for those needs one runs out of or forgets. Also a laundry, showers, toilets, cabins.....All very clean. All sites and drives are tar and in very good shape from what I see. I chose full hookups and spoiled myself but I do think they have other choices. Give them a call. It was super quiet in my pull thru spot and I see but there horseshoe pits here and there. Looks to be a super family friendly, pet friendly place. They also have propane and fuel on site. You cant go wrong here unless you want to be totally alone, but it is an excellent "break" for this nomad who boondocks 99% of the time. No invasion of my space (personal bubble). I was very comfortable. Tmobile cell service was sketchy. My Verizon was great and they said they had free Verizon W-fi in clubhouse but I didn't check that out. Only star down for access is because Garmin had me going down little dirt alley ways. And yes its an updated RV Garmin. The only reason I didn't give it 5 is because it is off season so I cant really say how it is when there are others here and being a boondocking nomad, I like free :) lol

  • Good stay, relatively isolated area where the RV park is located

Camp store relatively extensive, diesel and gasoline available on site, prices reasonable (nearest fuel is far, Susanville). No grocery stores locally. WiFi reasonable for campground wifi, 2 bars reasonable ATT cell coverage. The town of Spalding, if you can call it a town, is very small, few residents. If you like an isolated area, you'll like this. Bathrooms/showers very clean, good laundry room. Read up on the area, seems 2018 fires and ongoing drought have impacted the area; used to be good fishing (so I read), but the lake level is down considerably. There is an American Legion bar adjacent to the RV park, you sign in as a 'guest' (since it is private establishment); prices very reasonable.

Beautiful spot, clean. Cable didn’t work, sewer was not working in morning. Guy beside us decided to warm up his dirt bike for 15 minutes but was very quiet otherwise.

Frankie runs Eagle Lake RV and does an outstanding job. The store is so clean and full of reasonably priced snacks and supplies, you can dump for $25 any time you need, potable water, and dumpsters. The sites were really well maintained. It was quiet because we were there off season, but eagle lake in general is such a gem. Great place to get away from it all.

  • Tight, unlevel sites, pricey.

Barely enough room to put your awning out between sites-if you don’t have a tree in your way. Saw some rigs had to work slides and leveling around tress. Very tight. Campground was clean. Cute little cabins, etc available. It’s 13 or so miles from any usable launch. This side of Eagle Lake is down many, many feet and has basically been unusable for years- maybe a paddle board or paddle kayak. Would not launch a pedal drive kayak or any boat on this end. Lots of warnings re potential damage. Fuel is very high priced up here as are the items in the store. It’s around 45 min -1 hr drive to Susanville. Last 15 miles to town is pretty slow and very windy. Charged $2/dog per day. They do not have any off leash area and do not provide for dog waste bags. Don’t mind paying but expect to at least have waste stations with bags. Not sure what the $8 was for. They have full hook up sites. No issues with using them. EMS showed no issues. Inquired re dump station -which does not have potable water available. Fee is $30. A site is $40. With good Sam discount. Website states satellite tv but we were not given a code. Not sure if that’s still available. WiFi weak so we used our own. If you have a cell booster and Verizon service is pretty good here.

Nice campground, had a lake view and owner went out of his way to get us in and comfortable. Great spot for bigger rigs but the drive into the area was a bit tough for us. Worth it, though. Look forward to staying here again, they have a great store, bicycles and hiking and dirt bike trails everywhere.

Do NOT use their address in GPS for directions as it will take you to a closed road used as their fire exit. Enter from Strand.Nice park but away from any town so stock up beforehand.Small store on site. This part of the lake is extremely low. Still, a peaceful location.
