I live here in South Lake Tahoe and always came here to dump before putting the trailer away. For years it has cost $10 (reasonable). I went to pay a few days ago and was told $35! She said it was to be more in line with other campgrounds. I camp a bit and never have I seen more than $15 charge to dump.

Of course, that will change once Memorial Day comes around. Yes, it is a large campground and it does get very crowded with campers and kids during the summer. But, you are also right next to South Lake Tahoe. This is not a rural, up in the mountains campground. The airport is near, so you will hear occasional jets taking off (not many, as I don't believe there is scheduled commercial flights) and you will hear occasional medivac helicopters (it is right next to a large hospital). Again, you are camping in an urban environment. Even though you are in an urban area, the large pine trees, relative quiet (no highway noise), birds and squirrels (lots), you feel you are in a rural mountain campground. But, you're not! ;>) You're close to the Lake, grocery stores, restaurants, casinos, mountains, Emerald Bay, etc. They have clean and looks like newly renovated restrooms (3 toilets plus a large shower). We were at a full hookup site and had no issues with our 30 amp power, water and sewer connections. The site was very wide and deep enough to accommodate our 29' travel trailer and 20' pickup. Since our site was wide, we were able to easily deploy our slide out and awning. Just be aware some sites maybe smaller. Overall, we enjoy coming to Tahoe Valley Campgrounds. Word of caution, this is a popular campground and with limited campgrounds in the area, it can and will be difficult in getting a reservation. Plan ahead and reserved early.

I can see why there are so many reviews about this park being super busy. The sites are on top of each other. However, we came at the end of October and it was pretty empty. We only had neighbors on both sides for a few days. The bathrooms were clean, good WiFi ($), and full hook ups. We had a great stay and the staff was super friendly.

They have been harmless, but surprising to us that are not use to that being the norm. Unfortunately, we are leaving early due to the smoke and very poor air quality right now. The park has cleared out big time this week with others also doing the same. The AT&T service for calls has been mostly fine, although 2 bars. Video calls do not work well. We paid for the monthly rate of wifi and it's still slow. We've managed to work remote on it, but no work video calls and sometimes we are at the mercy of very slow downloads. There is a Starbucks and other coffee shops in the area that easily walkable with great wifi. Bike lanes lead to a bike trail that leads to Pope and Baldwin beaches. Free to those that bike in. Charges if you drive. Great places for swimming! Asphalt roads throughout the park, but dirt sites so can get a little dusty. Easy to navigate through the trees and close to neighbors but not too close. The tall pine trees help you feel like you have space from others. Prior to the smoke, they had summer nightly activities - movie night, crafts, bike ride, hikes, etc. They also have a tennis court, bball court, laundry that is accessible with quarters or an app on your phone, playground and tent sites. We're also next to an awesome pizza place - Tahoe Pizza Company - best Gluten Free pizza I've had in a very long time. When it isn't smokey we will certainly be back.

The giant trees make it feel super cozy and remote. The laundry facility was large and very clean - they use the laundry app because they do not give change. They had ice cream you can buy and a movie night a couple nights a week for adults & kids. The lake is only 10 minutes away and there are tons of good restaurants nearby! Only 2 complaints: the wifi that we paid for was absolute garbage, so don’t buy it. And the pool was not open and it was hot! With everything opening up, it seemed like they just didn’t feel like dealing with the pool maintenance.

This campground is geared towards the TT crowd. If you don’t like TT, you won’t like this property. Not many other options in the area. Everywhere in region fills up quickly, but that’s because it’s Tahoe. I would say more, but just avoid if not TT.

Our site was very level, FHU, and easy to get into. Getting out wasn't bad, but there are some trees to navigate. The staff was wonderful. The recommended good sights, hikes, and where to find RV parts when we needed them. The staff cleaned up the park after a foot of snow rather quickly. Another winter storm was forecasted the day before we were supposed to leave, and the staff were excellent in giving recommendations or adjusting our stay (longer or shorter) to avoid driving in inclement weather. Worked via a Verizon Mifi the with 0 issues even with zoom meetings. We will definitely be back again.

We were originally only supposed to stay a week, but my wife had to go in the hospital for a few days. The staff was so supportive and we were able to extend another week and even stay in the same site!! Every time I went to the office, all had a great attitude and were beyond helpful. Brett and the field staff were fantastic and extremely helpful as well. For those of us who are full time, they made us fell like family,. and that is priceless. We will definitely be back and we will make sure to avoid fire season next time.

The people who work there are awesome especially Bret, one of the guys who helped us was amazing. We finally got a site but the 50 amp was not working so limped on 30 amp. In fact, we had several days where there was no electricity as they tried to fix it. There were about 15 RVs impacted. The management at the campground was great and compensated us for the difficult check in and the site that was not our reservation commitment. Fellow RVers very friendly and the location of this campground is perfect to see all of Lake Tahoe. Our price was through RPI so less than the normal fee. We are self contained so didn't use restrooms, but they looked average and I saw people cleaning them.

Large parks with large crowds don't bother me, in fact, I tend to like those over holiday weekends. Unfortunately, I didn't like this place as much as I had hoped. There are 439 sites and every single one of them is in dirt. Actually it's a sandy, dirt mixture that blows around and gets in and on everything. Not a blade of grass to be found anywhere which is pretty sad among all those trees. They say they have WIFI, but you have to pay for it. I paid $14.95 for a 7 day pass. You could also pay $5.99 for 24 hours. I didn't need the WIFI for a lot of things but when I needed it, I needed it to work. It didn't. $14.95 was supposed to get you 5.2 MBPS and what I got was unusable and a huge waste of money. I paid $114 per night for full hookups, I assume because it was over the holiday weekend and didn't get much else for it.Most of the sites are crammed in pretty tight. Mine wasn't bad and I guess that's why it was a "premium" site. Most activities were cancelled and it was really just a huge dusty mess. Checkin was easy and the people working there were nice, but it's not as nice as it should be for the price. There are better choices in South Lake if you can get in. This place isn't bad, it's just not that good. 2 bars of AT&T coverage that was usable when traffic was low in the early mornings or late at night.

So, we paid this ridiculous price, and had to pay $14.95 more for WiFi from Jabba Communications. There was no avoiding the WiFi purchase since my Verizon was unusable in the campground. I'm writing this on Friday night at 10:10pm and a fifth wheel just arrived at the park. I don't envy them, but it's not great for the rest of us trying to settle down for the night either. Not a huge deal since the awful karaoke just ended at 10pm. Site 101 is located at the end of an aisle so there is a road on 3 sides and the 4th side is where the dump station is location. We are located near one of the main arteries so I can't say this was a peaceful stay. We've been camping extensively this year and this is honestly the worst cost vs. benefit stay we've encountered.A couple tips if you are like me and you really must be at this campground: Review the campground map and reserve as early as possible to get a better site.

My only complaint was that the workers would drive their golf carts fast through the nearby campsites kicking up dust everywhere into my RV. I did call and complain but either that message didn't get delivered or there wasn't any importance placed on it.Manager was very nice when I had an intake issue regarding the type of site I was supposed to get and quickly rectified it.Lots of trees which is nice, but not great for solar panels though I didn't really need it since the site came with electricity. I have to work remotely in the RV so cell signal strength is important. It was very low here and most places around Lake Tahoe, but the campground wifi worked great. Laundry facility was nice and reasonably priced and staff was very courteous and nice as well.My daily rate was discounted with the Passport America club discount.

CONS: No discount for extended stay = $54/night Weak WiFi, could not log on most days. West AT&T signal, no Verizon. Tall trees = difficult DISH signal.Terrible entrance, either of 3 possible choices, not well marked from Hwy. 50. Rough roads, partly paved, so many pine needles it was hard to tell road from not road. Poor signage for the interior roads to find your site, roads wind in and around all the trees, sites not well marked.Dusty dirty sites, not paved at all. The bathrooms are absolutely filthy, hair and dirt clumped in corners are around each shower stall. I checked multiple days in a row to see if they were cleaned: nope. Water barely warm. Food in the bathroom sinks. We would leave early but there are no refunds so will stick it out and shower in our van. After reading yelp reviews I see lots of complaints about the facilities and apparently management is not helpful. Don't come here. They don't deserve your business.

We settled on this park, based on reviews. We were not disappointed. The park is a bit of a mish mash of sites, some with 50 amp, some only 30 amp, some have sewer and some don't. You can find the hookups you want, you just need to be clear what you want. Some of the sites are wide with sun exposure and fairly good satellite reception, others not so much. The check-in process was easy and we proceeded to our spot. The signage was a little confusing, but we found it and we managed to get parked and setup with no problems. Many of the sites, including ours, have large trees that can make it difficult for larger rigs to get into. The trees define the sites, so they aren't just side by side, perfectly straight. This adds some character to the park, but also means you might be looking at someone else's sitting area, although that extreme is rare. There was a group next to us that had several RV's and tents, which was really nice for them. But, because the sites aren't clearly defined, one of their tents encroached on part of what we thought was our area. We had a lot of room, so it wasn't an issue, but others might not feel that way. We decided to extend our stay an extra two weeks, and part way through moved to a premium site. Our site was still 30 amp, but we had woods behind us and our site had much more open space to set up our canopy. Although we didn't see any, neighbors said they had seen a bear and coyote, we only saw birds and chipmunks. The bathrooms in our loop were older, but clean. I used the laundry twice, the first time went well. The second time neither of the two driers I used dried my clothes. When we complained, the kid working said that they don't always work and refunded the cost of one dryer. They didn't even ask which machines we had problems with, that was disappointing. The wifi was unusable and AT&T reception was spotty, but we had a strong Verizon signal. The location is great and road noise is low, but there is a hospital very close and they seem to use their helicopter a lot! That was a little annoying, but it usually doesn't run late into the night. Our first week was about $325, but we joined TT and received the next two weeks free. We enjoyed our stay here and hope to return.
