It has several distinct campsite areas - and if you are passing through you are going to want to be put in one of newer pull-thru or back-in sites. When we called, the only site available was in the middle of the seasonal sites, and our 35’ fifth wheel just fit-and was leveled by using 2, 2”x6”, boards on the curb side. Looking at the campground map, sites on the left of Road R are primarily seasonal and bunched tightly together. Sites to the right, such as Roads R, V, X and Y are where we saw most of the transient campers and were laid out better. The other nice loop was the ‘A’ loop with numbers 1 - 9 appearing to be transient and the others more seasonal. All roads are chunky gravel. There is a lot to do at this campground - as other reviewers have covered. AT&T and Verizon signals were good, wifi so-so, cable channels a plus. The campground is laid out on a hillside and can be approached via I-81 exit 90 (7 miles) or exit 100 (5 miles). Both approaches are big rig friendly. When you enter the large parking lot in the front, the entrance to the campsites is on the right.Almost directly across the road is the Swatara State Park which has miles of hiking and biking trails. The rail-trail has a crushed gravel base that a road bike can traverse, and there is also a mountain bike section that has 4 distinct loops. There is no park contact station that we could see, but once you drive into a parking area there were printed maps available at the information kiosk.

We chose a Full Hook-Up pull-through site in the 'A' section upon arrival. While we had no neighbors during our stay, for a private RV park, the sites in the 'A' section provided ok spacing. There is a picnic table and firepit at every site. Wood is available for purchase year-round at the front office. We arrived on the last night that the on-site restaurant (a BBQ style counter service style place) was open for the season. The food was edible, and we would have gotten take-out again if it was open longer. The park was decently quiet throughout most days and nights. Some light traffic noise. There is a small water park, a Merry-Go-Round, a small Ferris Wheel, and a game room available in the 'on-season'. A public disc-golf course meanders throughout the park. Two dog parks are available, as are laundry, showers, and a general store with camping supplies and snacks. The biggest perk of this place, for us, is access to an excellent trail system across the street and down a road - about a mile walk from the park. It provided endless miles of running (or walking or biking or horseback riding - choose your fantasy), as well as access to the Appalachian Trail. We were able to receive mail (forwarded and Amazon) to the front office here. Verizon provided AMAZING download and upload speeds here: 60mbps+ both up and down.

Check in was easy and we got the gate code and proceed to FHU pull-through site A21. Pull in and set up was easy. Cable worked well and we got 4 bars on Verizon and 3 bars on AT&T. This campground (CG) has two fenced dog areas that are connected near the front of the park. This was a well maintained park with a mixture of full timers, seasonal, and short termers. We noticed that our one night charge was way over the listed price. Going to the office, we found out we had been charged $25 for a cancellation. After discussion with the manager, he said it was a cancellation vs modificationbecause we canceled two of the three nights. We might have understood better if this was during peak season and park was full, but it was mid September and many of their amenities were closed. In addition, we had modified our stay with the park more than a month prior. Additionally, even though we stayed Wed - Thurs, we were charged the Thurs - Sun rate. Based on the the feeling of being price gouged, we will pass on staying here in the future.

The campground was very helpful in accommodating a last minute change in plans for us as we ended up arriving a day early and leaving a day late. Our first night was on site AO6. This is a smaller cul-de-sac and this site is on the edge of an open field. It was very nice but was close to the road. So some road noise but OK. This was our favorite of the the two sites we were on. Our other nights were on site V04. All sites were plenty long for our 35' 5er and our large truck. Roads and sites are paved with crushed stone. The grounds are well maintained, clean and well organized. Closeness of sites side to side is about average. We would definitely return and give the campground high praise. My wife preferred their (free) shower to our camper. On site their is also a nice restaurant.

There is even a sizable dog park for our four-legged travel companions. The campground is big rig friendly; easy to get around in with many large, FHU sites. Some sites are rustic and some--especially the pull-thrus--are parking lot style. There are many seasonal and long-term residents, but almost all are well maintained. This is not a run down place by any means. Twin Grove is busy on the weekends in season, so advance reservations are advisable.
