They allowed us to cancel our booking even though they did not have to. We are very grateful.

Then the road leading to the park was a bit more narrow and it seemed like you were driving onto a private ranch. Our nightly rate included the weekly 1/2 price golf package. Check in was easy and we proceeded to back-in site 14 with FHUs. The road at the site was wide so back-in was easy. The utilities are more toward the front of the site, which made them very convenient for our rig. Great water pressure so suggest using your reducer. Our site backed up on the meadow and we were told this was an off leash area. The sites along the meadow had trees that provided some shade. The playground is on the far side of the meadow, however per reviews, this place is not considered kid friendly and that is a positive draw for us. We came to relax in the quiet and play golf, not have to hear and watch the campground babysit people’s kids as we are seeing way too much of that these days. The very nice lady at check in said we probably would not get WiFi in our far back location. Our Weingard Connect 2.0 did pull in some signal, but it wasn’t very good. However, we did get three bars on Verizon and our MiFi worked fine. We got 4 OTA channels so we put out our satellite and were pleasantly surprised we got an easy shot of the southern sky with the trees around the site. There are pull through and group sites up near the club house, but many were quite close together and not many shade trees. There are also a variety of tent sites available, some with 15/20 AMP. Our pups enjoyed the 1.4 mile nature trail, 3 mile trail around the golf course, and running off leash in the meadow area. The pups were allowed to go golfing with us, but we opted to leave them in the a/c as the temps were unseasonably high. We had a blast playing the golf course plus checked out Mill Creek Falls and Blue Lake both about 30 minutes away. Alturas has your main amenities plus we found reasonably priced diesel 5 miles out of town on US 395 North at Chimney Rock Travel Center just past the CA Agriculture check.  We’ll be back!

This RV and golf resort was an unbelievable surprise for us when we arrived. Way prettier than we expected. Super friendly staff and so many things to do here. We drive up to Mill Falls and borrowed bikes (free) and ride the parameter of the property (3.5 miles). We will be back.

  • Nature trail, grill, free bikes to ride...and the views!!!

(We used 3 different brands and they still bit all of us). 2. The sprinklers came on both of the mornings we were there (our chairs and outdoor rugs, that were not even on the grass) got soaked!!

And the stars -- I had to take one of the dogs out in the middle of the night and was absolutely amazed at the sheer number of stars. Zero light pollution, no tall trees or buildings blocking the view - it was like being inside a planetarium. The WiFi didn't reach our RV site, but it would great on the deck of the clubhouse, which was just a short walk from the RV.

  • An absolute gem in an unlikely place. ???? Lovely campground, tons of amenities, and friendly staff.

The upper area has grassy areas beside each site, spacing is adequate and some spots scattered around the perimeter may offer a little more privacy. Each site has a picnic table. Most sites are FHU-50 amp, a few are water/electric only. We actually thought the back-in sites along the tree line were the nicest and will request one of those next time we visit. What really distinguishes this park are the amenities. A truly lovely golf course (and I don’t even golf!), a great little nature trail (don’t miss the views from Jose’s Point), FREE access to bikes, kayaks, and paddleboards. (Love that you aren't nickel and dimed to death!) We borrowed two fat-tire bikes for the 3.5 mile loop trail around the property – Awesome! We got a huge kick out of the giant jack rabbits and saw a Great Horned Owl on the nature walk. Golden Eagles also frequent Jose’s Point, but we missed them. There is a small laundry (2 washers/2 dryers) that are very reasonably priced, restrooms, showers, a group fire pit/ BBQ area. There is a dump station. The clubhouse/office hosts a small café open for breakfast and lunch. Checkout the yellow folders on the information/brochure table for things to do in the area. We had 4 bars of Verizon 4G. The clubhouse has free wifi which is also accessible from the covered deck.

Oh! they also tout the some of the darkest skies in the U.S and have telescope pads with 110v service! The only reason I might not had given a 5 (would had been 4.5 if had the chance) is the levelness of their pads. We were fortunate to be there early enough to find something close enough to use just one side of blocks. I noticed the RVs with automatic levelers had no problem.

Likely Place is a little further afield than I would prefer to travel in one day, but, boy, was it worth the trip. I came in through Hwy 299, off of I-5. The weather was calling for rain/snow showers so thought it safer than tackling the Tahoe/I-80 Summit. Hwy 299 was really picturesque, surprisingly so, and no crazy grades.Upon arrival to Likely Place, there was a Bald Eagle sitting in the field outside the front gate. What an awesome welcome. Really, that was the only welcome because their wasn't anyone posted in the RV resort. I had arrived a little after 5pm, and did a self-check in. The downside was that the better upper loop sites were closed off, leaving me the lower loop; sites 1-10, which is all gravel except for one lone tree. I had my choice of sites, all pull-through on this level, because there was only one other RV in the entire place. I chose the end site 10, which included full-hookup, and a picnic table. (No wi-fi was available when I was there in April, however, there is excellent Verizon coverage, so I just hotspotted to my iphone.) The gravel was also a bit uneven and I had to figure out had to use my leveling blocks for the first time (not a bad thing). That first evening it snowed huge white flakes. It was brilliant. The following three days the weather cleared, we had a few more arrivals (they all parked in the upper loop and seemed to be golfers) and I was able to enjoy the main reason for my visit; the night sky. Oh, the brilliance in the stars....there were so many and I could see the Milky Way. I don't think I've seen the Milky Way in over 20 years. This is why I came, this is why I purchased my Airstream. I had meant to take some photo's of the night sky, but it was way too cold for me to hang out for much longer than to just be in awe and admire. I'll be back when the weather is a little warmer, and my camera will be ready to capture the ever elusive beauty of the stars. I understand they have cement pads available, with electricity, for telescope viewing. That would be very cool. As for wildlife, Modoc county is known for it's wildlife refuge, mostly birds. Along with the Eagle, I saw some Sandhill Cranes nearby. In the park, there was a large herd of deer, and the most enormous Jack Rabbits. I think they were larger then my dogs. Though not wildlife, cows are kinda noisy creatures. I swear I thought one was going into labor or something. Lots of mooing in the morning. There is pasture lands surrounding the park. The only thing that wasn't readily available was, gas, grocery's or food, so be sure to bring all supplies with you.

I had read WheelingIt's reviews and blog posts...otherwise we would have blown right past this little gem. There was only one other rig there when we pulled in but we never saw them. Strangely, there were a couple of cones in one of the roadways making it looks like we could only camp in the lower portion of the park. Since it was just an overnight we didn't mind...until we had settled in, set up the RV and then decided to take the dog for a walk. The upper portion is MUCH nicer....huge pull thrus with grassy areas between each site and a great view of the snow dusted mountains. We contemplated moving but, as I said, it was just one night and by 4 pm it was already getting dark so we didn't bother. We didn't get to play golf but we walked around a bit. It's a very nice place. The course looked fun and well maintained. There's a bocce ball court, nature trails, geocatching, free wifi, a couple of washers and dryers on sight and even showers. The upper campground has two gazebos with outdoor kitchens, BBQs, firepits and tables, We noticed they had set these up with 6 full hookup sites circling them...so it appears to be an awesome place for a get-together as you can basically have six RVs/Fifth Wheels, etc. circle around these gazebos. Genius! The campground wifi worked well enough for me to write a blog post, FB, email and plot our next stop. My Verizon/Straight Talk phone worked well as did my mifi (Verizon). It was in the 20's at night so we really appreciated the 50 amp service so we could run some extra heaters. We didn't use the shower since we had water and sewer at our site. Everything worked great. They also have a very nice tenting area that's separate from the RVing section. They thought ahead and had electric posts installed in the tent area since they've figured out most people need to charge devices...even when camping the "old fashioned way".We would definitely stay again...and would love to do so with a group so we can circle the wagons and take over a gazebo! And, of course, play a few rounds of golf.

It's somewhat out of the way (not much around Likely, CA), but it's SUCH a beautiful little spot. It’s huge (immense) with a full-featured 18-hole golf course set amongst miles of hiking trails, lakes and rivers. There’s even three private geocaching courses on-site. If you didn’t know you were in a private park you’d think this was a massive state park. It has the same, relaxed feel just with all the extras (full hookups, clubhouse, laundromat etc.). The only ding is that the sites are not exactly resort-level. I’d call them “rustic” at best -> all are basic gravel pads (either back-in or pull-through) with quite a bit of uneveness (we required levelers at our site) depending on where you park. Also the on-site WiFi is so-so. However these deficiencies are easily made up for by lots of green, tress and pleasant surroundings. Also the entire area (including the golf course) is dog-friendly…a huge plus for us! If you're passing through the area and want a green, relaxed spot to stay I highly recommend it.Note/ Our price reflects Good Sam's discount. The park also has very attractive monthly rates. Golf costs $23 for 9 holes, $28 for 18. You can also get golf/RV packages. GOOD Verizon LTE, but very iffy ATT (it comes and goes)
