When my friend and I made reservations in February and paid a $50 deposit each, we were told it had 50 amp service, and more importantly that our rate was $72 per night. When the reservations were made, we told them that we had a 37 5th wheel and our friend had a 35 TT. The quoted rate was the same for both. My friend got an emailed confirmation and I didnt. I called 4 different times to request a confirmation from them and only once did someone answer the phone. They told me they would send itI never got it. When we arrived, I remarked that the ride up the narrow, curvy mountain road was harrowing and I wish that I had know ahead of time to expect it. The older lady replied that I should have read the confirmation email! I told her I never got it and called 4 times requesting it. She said, well we get busy sometimes. We then commenced paymentmy friend was paying for their site and was charged correctly, including the posted 10% military discount and not charged for their 1 dog. I, on the other hand, was charged $99 for my premium site, no military discount and $2 per dog. When I asked she said it was bc my rig was 40 and I told her it was 37. She then said Oh! I meant 36. When I asked about military/dog charge , she said we dont offer any discounts in peak season and hotels charge more for dogs! I left to find any notes We made when making reservations and took my friends confirmation and the name of person I spoke with back. She informed me that Sue no longer worked there and they have the right to change prices anytime they chose including at time of check in. Whats the point of a reservation??? I told her that I had the right to blast them and let people know how they treat people and do not honor their own policy. About 30 minutes later, the owner, Chris, walks over with a chip on his shoulder telling us that hes going to try to help straighten it out. He proceeds for about 20 minutes patronizing me, my friend and all women bc men know how to control their emotions and not be angry and that he kicks out 30-40 people a year implying that if I didnt tow his line and not be so tough that we were next. He told us hes been to 43 countries as a sculptor and he knows how to deal with people. I should have told him my husbands been to 17 countries serving in the Army and is now 100% disabled because of it, but by all means, that 10% discount that the hag refused me but gave to friend, was not warranted. Having no where else to go, my DH played nice and Chris finally left. When we pulled out to go eat, he was stretched out on table helping. RE the CG pool closes at 7 pm, we saw 2 different pit bulls (not allowed) and the stench of pot was everywhere! Killed a black widow plugging into electric, park was dirty, unkept, and not worth $29 per night! Avoid at all costs!

We had a great view of San Lorenzo river and Henry Cowell State Park. The staff is great and helpful. We had a small issue with our cable tv(no fault of theirs) and they came right over and fixed our issue. The place is dog friendly. We had our two dogs. Be ready for no cell or WiFi. We occasionally got 1 bar of cell if we stood in a certain spot.(AT&T) There is WiFi up at the office but it’s inconsistent. Our son was doing his online school and he kept dropping off. But we worked through it. It was a nice short hike to the state park and the train through the redwoods. Fun experience on a real steam locomotive. We would stay here again the next time we are in the Santa Cruz area.

Pro : - Pull through sites - Cable internet - which I did not use- longer RVs were OK - Cotillion has 38 foot limit Cons: - Internet is hit and miss - A little longer walk (2 mins) - to get to HC Redwoods State Park - a concern if you have to walk with gear . Not otherwise - No tents - tents were OK in Cotillion - Poor Camp Wi-Fi and AT&T mobile internet is pretty un-usable Hosts were friendly in both the places.

There are however a few people near by with Comcast that have the Comcast public WiFi’s enable what worked OK.

All sites have full hook ups and are level. WiFi lounge, 65+ cable channels, heated pool, billiard room, ping pong table, play areas, laundry room with new washers/dryers, super clean bathrooms and showers, and extremely nice and helpful staff! Only 15 minutes from the beaches in Santa Cruz , 50 minutes from Monterey and less than 5 miles from a Costco! The office sells things we might have forgotten to bring with us, and they have ice cream, ice, soda and firewood too! Each site has a fire pit and is very peaceful, especially when the train whistles in the forest close by. Lots of hiking, biking, etc. We really love this place and can understand why so many people make this hidden jem their favorite camping spot. Great history here, it's the 1st campground to open 100+ years ago! Still in the same family too. Prideful ownership shows!

Loved this place! Nice staff, nice sites, nice showers, no wifi or cell reception. Situated right in the redwoods, some hollowed out trunks that you can climb in. Hwy 9 can get tight so take 17 and don't miss the turn into the park (like we did!!)

It was so beautiful and relaxing being amongst the Redwood trees. Very quiet setting.Campsite was spacious, private and level. Camp Hosts were friendly and provided an excellent service is guiding you to and into your site.Make sure you follow the directions for coming in on Mt Herman Rd from Hwy 17, rather than Hwy 9.
