Stopped by to dump tanks ($20), fill water $10), and spend a few hours in front of the lake ($10). Was asked to pay $10 more if I wanted to stay for a few more hours.Very nice staff, clean, but nickel and dime charges add up quickly.

Thought it was a nice place with lots of oak trees. Some sites would be better than others as is usually the case, but sites are more spread out on terraces and not all lined up in a row. Check out site maps to get an idea of better sites, some overlooking small lakes , some higher up that might be tricky to maneuver. We would like to stay here at some point when visiting the area.

We had reservations at a county park, but when CA went on another lockdown, our reservations were cancelled. Donna at Champagne Lakes was really friendly and found us a spot. We were not sure how long we were staying, so she let us pay by the week. We paid $404 each week for electricity, water, honey wagon (3x a wk), cable, and a pet. There is a general market and deli on site. The couple who run it make real good food at very reasonable prices. Open every day but Monday’s. Most of the people here are long term residents, but everyone made us feel soo welcome. The laundry areas were nice and clean. Open 24 hrs. We walked the property each evening. 1 lap = 1 mile. They have a propane service to fill your tanks and also do have a dump if needed. We would definitely stay here again when needing a longer term place to stay while visiting family.

If you’re just passing through or looking for a short get away you may not be able to find a spot. In fact, we enquired about reserving the same spot a couple weeks after our first visit and were told it was no longer available.

We wanted to stay somewhere our first week that was in a familiar area and as we lived in San Marcos previously, one city over from Escondido, this spot did the trick. Target, Walmart, Albertsons, Home Depot, Camping World, REI and any other retail you could need are all within 25-30 minutes. Downtown Vista is the closest spot to find some good food, beer and wine spots. We even took advantage of the YMCA in Escondido. The resort seems to be full of mainly people who live their full time, with a few temporary spots here and there. Our spot was called the Spillway South, which I think is typically used for tent campers, although this isn't really a tent camper type of place. The spot was steep to get in and out of, but other than that, pretty nice -- flat, large, private with a view of one of the lakes. We had full hookups, including cable. Amenities include coin laundry, restrooms, showers, swimming pool, store, deli, playground, catch-and-release fishing, propane, dump station, and a dog run. Everything was clean and well kept, with plenty of dog waste stations, trash cans, and recycle trash cans.We have a WeBoost and had excellent coverage with both AT&T and Verizon. Our rate of $57/night reflects the daily rate of $55 plus $2 for a pet charge. They have weekly and monthly rates too.

They had no place available for long-term, but the owner made me a site overlooking the creek by his maintenance yard. What a great site! I have no neighbors, other than wildlife, and frogs! I’m a full-time RVer and staying in one place isn’t in my blood. But I’d have to say, if you have to be stuck in one place for three months, this certainly is the place! There is freeway noise at my space, but nothing like I’ve experienced at other RV Parks. Make sure you have a water pressure regulator as water pressure here is very high. Really you should be using one every time you hook up anyways. They warned you to install a regulator while hooking up. They provide cable and honey bucket service. They come three times a week. Of course this is only for the sites that don’t have sewer connection. They have washer and dryer facilities, but I choose to use my onboard unit. They also have a propane service that will fill your tank on your MotorHome. They have propane on site for small cylinders. Due to all of the beautiful trees, I can’t use my satellite system. They offered to cut a few lamps, but in my world it’s just bad karma to be messing with mother nature so I make do with their cable service and I ATT Internet. Which brings me to sell service, AT&T as usual is pretty crappy. I use the cell booster and have no problems! It’s a great RV park to go for a stroll as it so spread out. You can fish at any of the lakes but must release. I like that! The little market is open Tuesday though Sunday. For such a compact store they stock a boatload of items. They also make sandwiches and a pretty good burger. Super nice people who run it. OK that’s about it it’s a really nice place!

We got a spot near the top of the hill, so we had an amazing view of sunsets and hills. The freeway noise is a bit louder than expected, but not horrible. We were there in the winter and the pool was icy, way too cold to use.The staff is friendly and helpful. When we were there, the store was closed, but we were told it would be re-opening soon.Despite the drawbacks, it is one of our favorites.

This, our second stay at Champagne Lakes, was just what we hoped for. Very peaceful! We stayed in one of the upper, newer levels that provide roof mounted satellite TV clearance. While these sites are not nearly as attractive as the lower, older sites along the lakes, this is the area we prefer. And will return to. I highly recommend that you approach the park from the south to avoid making an unprotected left turn. Also, a quick study in commuter traffic will provide very easy access to both Temecula & Escondido.
A lesson to be learned here, Cal State Parks!

It really has. We stayed in one of the upper levels. Full sun exposure (unlike the sites nestled in the valley) but also no satellite interference. In our area, parking was a bit tight for bigger, multi-slide units with an accompanying vehicle, but doable by moving the provided picnic table to the back corner of the concrete pad. At least in our area, the park was as peaceful as we seek. Might not be near the lakes where tent campers are provided waterfront sites along the catch & release oases. Cell phone reception is 1 bar, but provided Tengo internet was good. This is a beautiful facility that should be a model for what the state should be doing in it's parks. Don't think 10/10/10 RV's in a row like we gravitate towards. Think that concept hybridized with an oak studded state park. And full hook-ups.
