I'm sure it is great in the summer also, but very crowded. We camped here in October as well as again this February. The nights are brisk but the days are lovely, especially in the sun. We have camped in the middle of the park with full hook-ups, but there is very little privacy in that part of the park. This time we camped in the "Premium RV Sites" down by the river. It was lovely and quiet, with only a few other trailers. These sites are shaded most of the day, so the trailer stayed a little on the chilly side. The general store is well stocked and laundryroom/restrooms are clean and functioning. The campground is easy to maneuver around. Hwy 116 can be a bit winding and tight, but experienced drivers won't have an issue. I highly recommend this campground to anyone, but especially families with youngsters.

It's a tough drive to get here as it was our first time on HWY 116 but, when we got here it was very quiet and clean. The store is well stocked but the back in site are very tight, a little uneven and muddy but again. You're on the water .

I’m a Sonoma County local and I’ve been coming to Casini for 10 years with friends and family. The prices seem to go up each year and they always find a way to tack on a new fee. For these reasons I’ve had reservations about supporting this place, and after my most recent experience, I won’t be coming back. We had a trip planned in October, and then unexpected changes in the weather called for storm conditions with flood warnings and 2-4 inches of rain. The thought of camping in pouring down rain with kids, being confined to stay in to keep dry, and then packing up in the rain started to sound like a disaster. Shame on me for not cancelling at the 8-day cutoff, however at the time rain was not in the forecast and was unheard of considering we’ve been experiencing a drought for several years. I called Casini to see if they’d be willing to work with our group, and they stood firm on their policy and would do nothing. I would suggest that they take a look at their cancellation policy. Other local spots for camping provide some sort of credit for a future stay; or share in the burden where the customer gets a portion of their camping fee refunded. I would have appreciated something to create a win win situation, and instead as a customer I’m left feeling unwelcomed and undervalued. Again, such a bummer to write this review especially after many fun trips.

But they are generally 3x bigger than other more popular places like Tahoe where we were barely 6 ft from the next trailer. Also there is a kid activity program (our kids are grown) but it got the kids’ energy out which made for a quiet adult night! There was a dog park and places to take your dog to do it’s business. Everything was clean, trash was manageable with dumpsters for recycling and trash.

With most of the rest of California either on fire or near 100 degrees, this is a good place to be. It is a very well run, family-oriented park, with masses of kids having a really good time. The river is quite low after several years of drought, but that doesn’t seem to stop a parade of floaty toys headed for the fairly grungy beach. We found the staff to be kind, professional, and a bit overworked. The store has the basics and some dusty t-shirts. Campsites vary quite a bit. Most RV spots are quite exposed to sun, wind, and foot/vehicle traffic. All the ones with full hook-ups are very exposed with few trees and full sun. Register way head and carefully, and read the fine print. We thought #97 had sewer but it didn’t—our mistake. Tent sites, most of them, are tucked into the woods. It’s very quiet at night—families tend to go to bed at a reasonable hour, and we saw absolutely no loud parties. Such a blessing.WiFi is awesome at some spots, not so good at others, as you can tell from the reviews. Site 97 had excellent WiFi using the Casini Ranch WiFi.

The kiddos loved being able to rent the pedal carts and roamed around the campground. The campground was very clean and well kept, despite not super manicured. The camp store was great and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Wifi was throughout the park so I was able to take a work call on our last day.

However, the greatest disruption was the site with four or five small dogs in a pen, which took turns leading a chorus. To be fair, it is just the type of place we would look for when the kids were young. We decided to cut our loses and after doing laundry and spending one night we took a chance on finding a spot in the overflow area at Salt Point Gerstle Cove CG.Glad we did.

We have been here twice this year and will likely return a few more times. The campground sits along the Russian River and provides relaxing entertainment for kids and parents alike. A quick drive will take you to the coast or Armstrong Woods. If you like wine tasting, you have a lot of options within a half hour drive. During the summer, the water level is low - a much different story during the winter months. The beach along the river is rocky - you will need a camp chair. Accommodations are good. Bathrooms and showers are clean and well maintained. The little store has pretty much everything you will need if you forgot some groceries or need basic supplies to fix an RV problem. A majority of the RV sites are laid out in a field, there is not a lot of trees to provide shade. The RV sites are long – good use of space. Whenever we want to get away for a quick escape, Casini Ranch is good option. They accept Passport America, which helps reduce the price.

We arrived late on Friday night around 10 PM; the staff was present to check us in. Finding the site during the night was a challenge, this is a huge property, and they haven't placed street lights, I would suggest they follow KOA's practice of putting solar-run lamps on the main intersection, that way you don't take away the campground feel yet provide enough light where needed the most.We had booked a premium river-view site (#6). Site #2 through 24 are river-view sites. First, our campsite wasn't private at all; it was the only pull-through site amongst back-in sites and sat parallel to a busy unpaved road. The tents and cars in the group tent campsite in from of our campsite completely blocked the river view. The staff mentioned that this was an unusually busy weekend. On Sunday morning all group tent campsites cleared up, and the view from our campsite turned into a beautiful view of the river. If you are looking for river-view campsites with some privacy, I would recommend partially-private site#62, #63, #64. There are some nice water-electric sites in the back #89 and #90. Also, my wife and I thought that we might prefer some of the water only campsites they have in a very natural setting close to the river; these can accommodate RV's. These sites, however, would require that you have solar & lithium batteries setup or a generator (not allowed between 10PM and 8AM). Site #36 through #39 are such sites.Although this experience wasn't good at all due to overcrowding, yet I can see that coming here on a relatively less busy weekend would be really nice. We will definitely come back.

The store has everything you need and the river beach is amazing, beautiful spot . My main gripe and why I didn’t do 5 stars is the showers and bathrooms. They really need to up the game here. The showers are coin operated, after you already paid to stay here and are spending money on all their stuff... but fine. But then add the fact that of the 6 minutes you get for a dollar, only two of those are hot water because the tiny inline heater won’t last that long... and the water you do get is basically being spit at you from the super crappy shower heads, so now you spend the last 5 minutes of cold water trying to get all your head wet... don’t even think about shampoo. Then add that there’s zero place to put your clothes, toiletries or anything you brought with you that you don’t want to drop on the (tiny) wet floor outside curtain... there wasn’t even a place to put your soap inside the shower... so now You’re trying to figure out how to hang everything from the one towel hook.. how is this something they put there and walked away feeling they provided adequate PAY showers... if they were free I would not look at in the tooth, but even then, the free showers at state parks are head and shoulder above these things

  • So many options.

Tpns of kids activites are available and the site organizes some depending on the day. There are boat and bike rentals available. A huge amount of beach access on the river was in the camp. It has a very nice dog park. The store was well stocked. The towns and wineries in the area are great and we enjoyed a trip from Burke's Canoes and Korbel. Power and water were reliable. Not all sites are full hookup and we were without sewer but they have a mobile pump out truck for an additional fee or you can use the dump station as part of your fees. Passport America can also knock a chuck off your price depending on when you stay. WiFi worked well enough for basics and was included.

Roads are mostly paved in the RV areas and dirt in tenting areas. This campground had some of the best wifi we have encountered in our journey although on the weekend bandwidth was challenged a bit. The facility is clean and we would return if in th area. I would add our 43' fifth wheel toy hauler was not typical of their guests but fit in just fine. One word of caution - motorcycles are not allowed. They permitted us to unload and park them by the office. Riding the Pacific Coast Highway (only 4-5 miles away) is a must.

This is a family focused park, so there are kids and dogs making noise, but they are very focused on making sure quiet time is enforced at 10 p.m.Updates are taking place - like new ADA bathrooms (very nice), rental RVs, and electrical upgrades. The big charm of this park is the historical aspect. In the Casini family for over 100 years, with a historical barn still on site, it has a an old west, great family friendly feel. Bottom line - there are lots of ways to stay entertained here.

It can be annoying to tent camp when parks don't pick up the litter (cigarette buts and bottle caps), but this campground was well cared for. I could see we'd be a little hemmed in if the campground was full, but we had lots of space to ourselves. There's a shooting range nearby, and we did have some noise from that on Sunday, but not in the afternoon, or on Monday or Tuesday. Casini Ranch is a destination for Civil War reenactments during the summer. It was easy to get our kayak into the water and the Russian River area is beautiful. Wonderful bakery at Duncan's Mills; fresh, warm cinnamon rolls and (we were in luck) sticky buns...we rode our bikes over in the morning, just a short trip.No cell service for T-mobile, but the staff at the Casini store offered up their own land line so I could make a local call. Nice.

  • Good location but noisy family campground

It is located between the beautiful Sonoma coast and the Russian River. It's a great location if you want to explore both. If you are not interested in the coast then maybe a campground on the other side of Guerneville would make access to the majority of wineries and Healdsburg easier. We took day trips to Bodega Bay, Sebastopol, Healdsburg and the Dry Creek Valley from here. It's a short (windy) drive to Guerneville which has some good eating options. They have a whole range of sites, we moved because we couldn't secure a single spot through the weekend. There are some good spots near the water, but the first spot we had was really pretty disappointing. Just dirt and huge weeds and nettles. You are very close to neighbors here. The beach is the best part of this campground, you can rent kayaks and SUPs. Even at the weekend it was not so crowded as to be a pain. They have warm clean showers, and a well stocked general store. Overall we did not love this place. The staff were friendly enough and the facilities good, but it was busy, you are very close to other people, and there are lots of noisy families, generally just not our kind of place.
