The whole area is windy though which is why there is a huge wind farm with hundreds and hundreds of windmills about 10 miles away. We enjoyed seeing those! This park has amazing views of the mountains all around and is landscaped with cactus and plants. There are some activities to do in the park. I booked it seeing that it was close to Joshua Tree National park, but be aware that it is actually nearly an hour to any of the park’s entrances. Most sites are pretty normal sized, but we got one of their 90 foot patio sites which was really nice. (Sites 65-70) Plenty of room on both sides of the RV and we could park our truck in front of or behind the RV. We had packages delivered from Amazon and they texted me when they arrived in the office and held them for a couple days since we couldn’t get back before the office closed.

One of the reasons we bought a smaller, high-clearance camper like our R-Pod is to be able to camp in state or national parks or to boondock. But the Palm Springs-Joshua Tree KOA is absolutely one of the nicest large, corporate campgrounds we’ve discovered in our travels. Our original plan was to stay here for a single night en route from the Bay Area to Tucson. We arrived well after dark, so it wasn’t until the next morning that we realized how spacious and semi-private our site was, and how nice the facilities are. Our original site was one of the larger ones, with a (fully provisioned) propane fire table that we lit up for morning coffee. Sitting there, enjoying the view of the nearby snowy peaks, we decided to stay another night after doing some day hikes in Joshua Tree National Park. The friendly folks in the office weren’t able to get us into the same site, but put us in one right across the road. We didn’t use any of the amenities like the hot springs, pool, or mini golf, but certainly would enjoy them if (when?) we return for a longer stay. Everyone else we interacted with—especially the work-camp crew doing site maintenance—was also super pleasant to talk to.Only (minor) negative was that the campground is a bit out of the way for both locations advertised in its name: Palm Springs and Joshua Tree are each a 30-60 minute drive. So if your goal is to maximize time in one of those particular locations, you might want to consider a different campground, such as one in the park itself. But if you need full hookups or want to split your time among area destinations, this is a great choice.

This is our place to stay when visiting PS. We really enjoy the pool and 3 jacuzzi spas with 3 different water temperatures. Cellular telephone coverage is good and we streamed music. Grounds and facilities super well maintained. Nice bathrooms. We have stayed at a lot of KOA’s and this is the best one.

Early fall must still be considered the off-season, as there were very few RVs in the campground and the pool facilities were not available. There is a gate house at the entrance to the campground with an exit gate on the left; turn right and head to the end of the road to check in at the office. The campground has a variety of pull-through and back-in RV sites, tent sites, and cabins. We stayed in one of the extra long patio pull-through sites, which gave us more than enough space in the front and back. The entire site was gravel, which was true of most of the sites, and very level. Most of the amenities are located at the front end of the park. The pool and hot tubs are enclosed in the courtyard of a building containing showers and restrooms as well as laundry, meeting, fitness, and game rooms. There is a playground for kids next to the building containing the office and the store, and across the street from the playground is a mini-golf course where balls and clubs are available next to the first hole. In the same area but a little further into the campground, there is a pair of pickleball courts and a decent-sized basketball court with opposing hoops. There is another building with a laundry room and restroom and shower facilities near the back end of the campground, and there are several dumpsters and recycling bins in various locations. There are two separate adjacent dog parks at the front of the campground with a gravel and dirt surface. The line of tall pine trees next to the parks on the west side provide welcome shade in the afternoon. There is not a lot of shade in the park, and the near-constant winds that blow through the area are an impediment to deploying awnings, so I’m guessing RVs that stay here in the summer get quite warm. On the other hand, the lack of trees means you have fairly unobstructed views of the surrounding hills.Given our one-night stay, I only did one speed test with my Verizon Jetpack with MIMO antenna, which told me I was getting 46Mbps down and 21Mbps up, and we had no problem streaming video. The one speed test I did with my AT&T phone showed only 7Mbps down and 1.5up.We would stay here again if we were in the area.

If you’re going here to access Joshua Tree it’s a good hub for that purpose, especially if you have kids. Be aware it takes about 40 minutes to reach the entrance of the park. The problem we had here was the WIND! It whips up through canyon and can be brutal. The guy over the hedge from us had his pop up shelter go over the 5’ hedge in the middle of the night hitting our neighbor’s RV. We are a 40’ 5th wheel and we were rocking! The cell signal here, especially for a stable data connection, was only in the 3mbps range for both AT&T and Verizon. However, this park has the best WiFi I’ve ever experienced in a park. We work full time from our RV, requiring a stable VPN connection back to the office, and the WiFi was what worked best versus AT&T or Verizon. Even on Saturday, when the park was full, the performance for YouTube was adequate, but with reduced quality and a medium amount of caching.

Loved staying at this well-kept KOA. Great restrooms, lots of amenities. If you are a runner, you can easily jog the quiet side roads surrounding the park. Staff are friendly and plentiful. Only downside is the wifi is useless and cell reception isn’t ready if you have your own internet device. Otherwise would highly recommend!

After hot tubbing and swimming one evening we tried the showers at the further end, which are newer, but left in frustration since hot water had a stop and we couldn't get water warm enough on a chilly night. ???? Laundry facilities were ample and clean but we had a hard time squeezing in loads between longer-term residents. Park wi-fi not bad, no cable TV. Our AT&T network was slow but Verizon was excellent. We'd like to come back to this area but will consider other parks, that also offer spas and pool, first.

We were close enough to Cathedral City to enjoy some of its amenities. Our two complaints are the desk clerk was rather put off when I called from our site politely requesting to move. We had just gotten there, and, despite the park being quite empty, we were placed right next to someone with an extensive outdoor TV setup right next to our bedroom slideout and backed up to someone else with outdoor fencing for their little yappy barking dogs. Having recently come from another park with a couple that loved to sit and talk and make phone calls just feet from our bedroom, we weren't about to subject ourselves to that again. We did get moved but not without a lot of grumbling from the clerk. Our other complaint is the sites are deep, soft sand, making leveling difficult. We had to dig out pits on the high side to get level because our blocks on the other side would just sink in. All that aside, we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

That is probably the only disappointment in the place -- but it's the desert, after all!The hot springs are nice, with a large warm swimming pool and 3 smaller hot tubs with different temperatures of water, each hotter than the last The pools aren't 24 hours, but they're open til 10 or so, offering classes like water aerobics earlier in the day and free swim the rest of the time. There is a moderately-sized laundry facility and bath house, a clubhouse, tennis court, and mini golf that was actually a lot of fun. When it's not too hot out, the park can be a nice place just to walk around for exercise. When we stayed here, it was a Passport American campground, but now it's a KOA, so there might be a few changes that aren't noted in our review. Here, you're on a relatively quiet road that takes you to Desert Hot Springs in 10-15 minutes and Palm Springs in 20-30 minutes. There's a wall separating the RV park from the road, so any highway noise there would be is muffled. It's easy access to all of the area's attractions from here, and the roads simply couldn't be wider. Seriously, we kept wondering if they were simply 4-lane roads that they forgot to mark.Nice staff, wide spots, and hot tubs. What's not to like?
