Nice quiet campground with river view on the mississippi river. Friendly folks, clean sites, free laundry. Full hookup for 40 bucks. Exactly 15 min drive to convention center in downtown memphis. Campground is next to a oil refinery, but you never notice it. Fun watching the tug boats and barges up and down the river day and night.

The sites are concrete pad and angled so no one has a blocked view which we thought was fantastic. There are sites off the water with more trees, all sites are a decent size. You do have to keep an eye on the flood stage, while we were here the river was very high. Watching these enormous barges go up and down the river is fascinating! Keep in mind, they go all day and night so you will hear them at night. We would stay here again if coming through the area.

There were signs to the park that were very helpful especially as we got close. Due to COVID there was contactless check in and per email we picked up our envelope and headed to pull through site 54 with FHUs. We received the major TV channels through our OTA antenna plus a clear shot to the Southern sky for our satellite. We also got 3 to 4 bars on Verizon and the park Wifi was average. One of this park's perks is a nice sized laundry room near the office that was FREE. There were also two smaller and also free laundry rooms in each campground area. Tom Sawyer is one of our favorite campgrounds (CG) and we noticed that there had been a few upgrades; another restroom and laundry building added plus refurbished the river view seating outlooks and added more outlooks. Great CG for an overnighter or longer stay to explore Memphis, TN.

We could only use up to 10 amps at any time with a 50amp RV, even the 30amp plug had same issue. My issue with this park is no one is on duty to call for any park problems after 5pm. We most likely will not revisit this park. I'm an electrician and the issue is in the pedestal grounding, had someone been available to speak to I would have helped them repair their problem.

When we called they had not a single spot available but the kind lady said to just come and we could dry camp on a tent spot. The minute we pulled up, a spot opened we were able to take 2 days of a much needed break. It was quite beautiful along the Mississippi River. Really enjoyed watching the barges and we walked our dog along the trails in peaceful quietness of the park. Don’t be put off by the drive in via a run down neighborhood and industrial area. Once you get to the park, everything is lovely. I look forward to staying there again. Great spot off Highway #40.

One extremely rude person screaming at another camper about his dog but that is a rare occurrence and not the campground’s fault. Just somewhat shocking as usually everyone is friendly.

Great view of the river, benches along the river, sites are well kept and roads are in great shape. Everything is mowed and taken care of. Check in was no contact, with registration over the phone and a welcome packet left in front of the office. Showers were clean and taken care of. It was nice to sit with a drink and watch the tugs push barges up and down the river. You go through an industrial area to get to the campground. I've seen reviews saying the road is rough....they don't mean in the campground. They mean the city streets leading to the campground. After going through industrial areas and factories, you go down a gravel road, over the levy, and into the most unexpected campground! We love it!Note that my wife left her watch in the bathroom. We were heartbroken as I gave it to her as a special gift nearly 30 years ago. We called, they checked the bath house and didn't find it. Later in the day we received a phone call that someone had turned it in at the office! My wife emailed them a shipping label and they sent it to us, incredibly well packed. We received it today. Thank you Emie! (The person that works there that helped us.)Love the place. Stay here.

Check-in was easy and contactless, just pick up your packet outside the office and find your spot. Roads in and out were in passable condition, I won't ding them for the potholes considering the flooding this place must experience from time to time due to the proximity to the water. Getting back and forth to Memphis, right now, can only be considered a nightmare with the I-40 bridge shut down. All traffic is being rerouted over the I-55 bridge and it is the only crossing for probably 100 miles in any direction, it took us an hour and a half to cross around noon. We would probably stay here again but will be avoiding Memphis until the bridge is fixed. Cell service is just okay, we were able to stream without any issues though.

Tom Sawyer is a very large RV park with treeless sites right on the river, and many sites back among the trees away from the river. Our experience with cell service was mixed. We had 1 bar for Verizon and maybe 3 bars for AT&T; unfortunately for us, our unlimited data plan is on Verizon - so it was a long week of dropped connections and video streaming with constant buffering. Bummer! The locals we encountered in W Memphis, and across the river in Memphis, were fantastic to talk with. Poor cell phone service would be the only reason we wouldn't stay at Tom Sawyer again; otherwise, it's a great place to relax.

The ONLY reason we chose this park was (1) the Navy base RV Park in Millington. TN was not open due to COVID-19 policy and (2) the Agricenter is not what it used to be. We are full-time RVers and we're based out if Millington, so we return to the area once a year to visit family, see all of our Doctors and renew our scripts for the next year. After we completed our first week we elected to convert to a monthly rate as we felt it wouldn't impact our access to the Memphis side of the river. During our first week we were notified that the base had opened however we elected to stay in place. UNFORTUNATELY the Hernando De Soto Bridge closed down on the 11th of May which significantly impacted our transit to and from the Memphis side of the river. I informed them of the situation and explained we needed to move and they told me that I couldn't get a refund for the unused day as I signed an application stating there are no refunds for early departure from a monthly reservation. Regardless of their policy, they refused to consider the extenuating circumstances and the impact to my wife & I. I will NEVER consider staying there again.

You round the corner toward the sites and there it is, the Mississippi River!! Good sized sites with full hookups. We had a clear view with no sites in front of us, it was great. The roads throughout the park could use a couple loads of gravel but definitely would not keep me away in the future. Site was level.

I think we were site 68, we had river front. A little tough to navigate in with 40’ towing. The inside roads were terrible, thus the 4 and would not stay again. Once settled it was nice to watch the barges and good places to walk dogs. Rate would have been less had I remembered my Good Sam discount.

A great spot right on the Mighty Mississippi River, working barges up and down the river was the noisiest thing we heard. Nice grassy areas and trails to walk the dogs or run on a leash. Easy trip to downtown Memphis. Walmart, Loves, and Petro all within 10 mins. Free laundry! A bit soggy in spots with the rain.

We felt safe here and it is so close to all the fun things in Memphis, TN!The little laundry room was clean, had brand new machines and best of all... it was FREE!I will say the only negative was that it rained most of the time we were here and the non waterfront sites are on gravel/dirt/dead grass. We had mud/water and grass everywhere there was no escaping it. I would love to see all paved sites and maybe some trails with gravel for walking the dog without going through water soaked grass.

We pulled in backwards and were still able to hook up by running the hoses/wires under the coach. We thought this was funny - we LOVED the road leading in! It had a very scenic Disney/Pirates of the Caribbean feel to it - wholly appropriate for it’s theme. Especially the awesome old wood shack type building that the office was in - for us, all these just added to the overall feel of the place, and it’s great! Once at our parking space - we got a concrete space, which was level and clean.... next to a nice slice of grass with a standard picnic table and a nice, wide view of the river. Very scenic. There’s a steep bank down to the river - and several classic benches along the top of the bank. You can tell by all the driftwood at the top of the bank that the water has risen that high in the past. The only downside was the exceptional amount of mosquitoes flying around - but there were also a bunch of large dragonflies having a feast, so there’s that.Quiet, clean. We’d stay again.

Well site #7 is not front row right on the river but it has a view of the river without any obstructions and I could see the sunrise from my kitchen window. Second is the roads are pretty bumpy. The holes and dips could use some filling in. The site was just a short walk to the bathrooms that were very clean. The bathroom house had to private rooms with a heater to keep it nice and warm. Overall easy to find, nice staff... gave 3 stars for the smell and small bathrooms.

We were in a gravel spot that was well maintained, even after being flooded recently. Site was level, water pressure was good and no electric issues (30a). The park was very clean, staff was courteous. No dumpsters around, but they circle around 3 times during the day and will pick up your trash. We only stopped by for the night, but had enough time to take a walk along a trail in the woods, and along the river where we saw several barges going up and down the river. Such a peaceful place, nice cool breeze this time of year made the evening beautiful. I imagine the bugs would be pretty bad in the middle of summer, we had a few little biting flies. Will definitely be back!

It’s off the highway enough to feel you are camping out of the city, but close enough to get back on the interstate within minutes. The campground’s main attraction is the river traffic on the Mississippi River. Multiple benches are set up along the riverbank for you to relax and watch life float by. For those that don’t typically like to hear Diesel engines, the tugs pushing the barge traffic can be heard lumbering by. We thought that the rumbling of the boats were quint and enjoyed the experience. The bathroom facilities were nice, they offer free use of their laundry and dryer facilities and the sites are spacious. The nightly rate is a bit high for the “amenities” but you are paying for the location by the river.

They're large front loading, very clean and you can't beat free. The sites themselves are a mixture of some gravel and some on a pad. Spring for the pad river view sites as this place gets extremely wet during any kind of rain and has really bad drainage so it's worth it to have the pad. The nearby neighborhood is not nice at all. There's lots of run down trailers and when you're driving up to the park through the sketchy neighborhood you're going to question your judgement for being here but once you get to the park it's nice.Check out Beale St in Memphis for some fun shops and restaurants. The laundry is free and the machines are in great shape! There is a gravel trail system just off the main road that you can safely walk your 4 legged kids, but you must take a 40 min drive to let them have a real treat. There is a 120 acre off leash park with lakes, fields and forests called Shelby Farms (http://www.shelbyfarmspark.org/for-dogs) that we drove to daily. I am in awe over the generosity of this community to allocate so much near urban land for pure recreational fun for dogs and humans. It might seem out of the way, but coordinated my runs to Costco, Whole Foods and Walmart since they are all less than 5 - 10 min from Shelby Farms. Thank you Memphis!!ok, back to the rv park, it is a treat to watch the barges and they do operate frequently. Unfortunately, a tug sank while I was here and so 2 days of search/rescue and recovery was also part of the show. My understanding is they never recovered the bodies. A train can be heard every once in a while, but nothing worth really mentioning. The staff are super kind. They pickup your garbage throughout the day and the roads/sites are plenty wide for larger rigs. There is a Walmart, Grocery store, liquor store within 10 min drive... but otherwise not much nearby. Actually the neighboring community looks like it is in economic trouble. As for cellular service: the park has free wifi and it is functional for streaming sometimes. tmobile was seldom good for even internet searches. verizon was good for streaming. Sites were a decent size, there were several giant open fields and even some "trails" mowed through grassy or wooded areas, great for longer dog walks. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, from the office to the lawnmowers. We were able to receive both UPS/Fedex packages and US mail at the campground, which was very convenient. There was a fair bit of ambient noise throughout our stay, from frequent train horns, to river barge engines, to some loud background hum from a nearby factory. None were loud enough to bother us while inside. Speaking of inside, that's where we were during most of our stay, since it was August with hot and humid weather and tons of flying insects. The campground WiFi was unusably slow most of the time. Our Verizon and AT&T hotspots each had two signal bars and had OK speeds, but were not fast. Our booster didn't help. If you like BBQ, you must go to William's BBQ a mile or two away and get the chopped pork sandwich! We'd be happy to stay here again, but hopefully not in hot and humid August next time.

You pass through a rundown part of town, cross over railroad tracks, and dive down a hill. It's not apparent that you are heading in the right direction but eventually you see the entrance to the park. We waited a few minutes for someone to come over to the office as they were running around the campground. They have flooding problems, and there are markings on some buildings noting flood levels. And, the website will indicate whether they are closed or not due to flooding. There is even a link to check the river stage. There are tons of warnings regarding bugs and other nefarious creatures. Guess we lucked out due to the time of year we were there as we had no problems. Roads are gravel and dusty. There are quite a few seasonal sites but they are fairly neat and tidy. It's a pretty large park with a mixed bag of sites. Some sites are really nice and level while others are cracked and not so level. There are trees in some loops but not in others. We could not get the WII FI to work. Satellite with Directv worked fine as did Verizon. It was fairly quiet in spite of the Fed Ex airport right across the river with near constant activity. Many sites are right on the river and others have a fairly clear view. It's fun to watch the tug boats and small freighters. It's a bit of a hike for one night but it might be interesting to hang around for a few days.

It's right on the Arkansas river, spacious sites, quality hookups, free laundry, usable wifi and friendly stay, all for $35 per night. Fun to watch the ships pass on the river from your campsite. Not many downsides to this campground, although I suppose if you're expecting to swim (you can't here) don't like the sound of passing trains (you can hear them) or are overly concerned about mucky smells from the river you might think twice about staying here, but in all honesty the good VASTLY outweighs the bad.Our site (51) was a pullthrough and it looks like only a handful of the sites aren't, so really each to get in and out of. Picnic table and tree at each site. Our pad was slightly uneven (used leveling blocks to compensate) but we could have easily done without. This park makes a point to tell people that they are occasionally flooded due to proximity to the river and ask that you call ahead of time to make sure they are open. Typically flooding happens in the spring, and since we were here in December it wasn't a concern for us.The best thing about this park is views... most, if not all sites, have a clear view of the river and you can walk to it within 30 seconds to 1 minutes from any campsite. Lots of benches along the river to site and watch the boats go by (which my son loved) or just enjoy the scenery. We will definitely be back!

  • Great location right on the "Mighty Mississippi" to watch all the barge traffic!

Yes FREE! Clean bathrooms and good showers. We would stay here again in a heart beat! Folks that run the place are all very friendly and a bag of ice is only $1. No gouging here! I could sit and watch the barges all day and night!

Management is nice. FREE laundry was a bonus. Wifi worked well most of the time (although the park was only 10% full). OTA television worked fine. No playgrounds for kids. The river is the real attraction. We would stay here again, definitely. NOTE: This campground does flood on occasion and closes until things dry out. That is because it is located between the levee and the river. So if you are in doubt about the Mississippi's water level, I would call the campground to make sure they are open. Their restrooms and office are on wheels so they can be moved to higher ground!

Upon arrival, we were greeted and guided to our site by a nice man that helped me pull the trailer to line up with the hookups.Everything here worked great at the site, we did not use the laundry or any facilities, but the park was quiet and provided a great view of the river. The provided wifi worked incredibly well with my external antenna, but I was also getting good signal inside the Airstream (which is unusual) directly to my phone and laptop. We used their Comcast internet for work and entertainment all week without any issues at all, and regularly pulled 20+/20+ on speedtest.net.

Several sites sit with full river view. Sites are long pull thru gravel or concrete. While the sites are fairly close together, the angle of the sites gives each a larger area for sitting outside in the front of the RV. The park says they have WiFi but we couldn't get it to work. The laundry is free and has five washers and six dryers. The office personel are very friendly and accommodating. We were provided with tourist information and coupons for Memphis. You are guided to your site. There is a newer area that was developed for fifth wheels that have you pulling in with the rear window facing the river for the view. The park does flood. Their website posts the river's rise, as does a sign outside the office, and will evacuate before the river reaches flood stage. There are train tracks near but there are very few trains and they didn't disturb us at all.

Watching the barges is kind of addicting, it is amazing how large they are. Being here in February, there weren't many other campers in the area. Laundry is FREE - we definitely took advantage of that. You might hear the barges at night, and you'll definitely hear the train, but it was only once per night. The drive out there can feel sketchy if its your first time visiting the city, but don't let it concern you. Since we visit Memphis frequently, we are kind of used to it. We've never met nicer people than in Memphis, and we love the city. The site was safe and the owners are friendly. Wifi signal would drop every so often. But, we only used it in the evenings. We got quite a few television channels with the digital signal. The site is pet friendly, and there's a lot of area to walk your dog around. They even told us to bring our dog into their office, where they had dog biscuits for their canine guests.Enjoy the Mississippi! If you're going into Memphis and love barbecue, check out Marlowe's restaurant near Graceland.

Wind, standing water and we were glad to be where we were. Lots of barge traffic even in bad rain. I'm sure this is a fun place to be when the weather is nice. Neighbors had been here for a week and they couldn't say enough about the place.
