As we meander through Arizona, escaping rain, we found ourselves getting close to Globe. Since the ‘boondocking’ sites were a bit too close to the Gila River for our comfort with rain predicted in the next 24 hours, this place popped up on the Campendium app. Place is right next to the historic downtown. Managers are super helpful and friendly. WiFi was slow, but helpful to have since it was time to do a software update on our devices. The train whistle in the middle of the night was a fun reminder that we really are on the road. Gave it four stars only because of the road noise and that train...

  • Noisy, dirt lot - but excellent wifi!

This is an in-town park, that is basically a flat lot with hook-ups that is not very easy to get to. There are mostly permanent people here (workers at the mine, school and hospital). All the non-permanent sites are water/electric only and you pull up next to the hookups, nose to tail with those in front or behind you. I can't imagine a big rig fitting in here, but the owner said it can happen. As the lot is dirt, if it rained, it would be a mud pit. It is right off the highway so there is a lot of road noise - and as I am sitting here I just realized the railroad track is on the other side. To make things worse, the train is going REALLY slow through here blowing its whistle as I write...actually it is pausing now right across the lot blowing its whistle again and again. Now it's going backwards. That's not going to keep us awake at all. Ok, back to the other things. There is no shade. It is walking distance to historic Globe, but we did not walk out to see what was there, so I can't say if that is a plus or not. That said, the owner was very sweet at check in. We did have TV channels over the air and the WIFI was excellent. I got a long hot shower and caught up on some work. All for $25. You decide if it is worth the $$.
