Distant Drums RV Resort is about a 30-mile drive to Sedona. We arrived early to enjoy the drive to Sedona without our trailer in tow. The resort has easy access, many different size sites to fit any size RV, and friendly + helpful staff. The staff guided us to our site when we arrived.

Very clean, well-kept resort with everything you could need. We stayed here as a base camp while we explored Sedona, Flagstaff, Payson and the Verde Valley and we felt very welcomed and comfortable here. We loved that the campsites are concrete, how clean the campground is, and how friendly and accommodating the staff is.

I thought this was a good alternative although the 30+ min drive back and forth to Sedona got old quick, even with the beautiful scenery on the way! Initially I was very impressed with the respect this RV park took in regards to indigenous peoples, then I realized it was actually run by Apache Nation which was really cool. Park is very well manicured and clean, however it can be really tight unless you can score the outside Motorhome pull into sites. The pool is too small to really be considered an amenity in my opinion. Also, I echo another review about the laundry room which was the most CHAOTIC place I have been in 6 months. First of all they don't allow laundry pods of any kind so I had to go buy bulky liquid detergent. Even with 20 machines in there and going early in the morning, there was about 8-10 people jammed in a 12x12 room, half of whom were un-masked employees taking up the only folding table in the room to count thousands of quarters?? WTF? I felt like I was in the world's smallest casino and the chaotic energy of people fighting over machines almost made me have a panic attack. The remedy to this is to do your laundry at off hours since it is open 24 hours a day! Montezuma National Monument is only a 3 minute drive away and is a must-do if you have a National Park Annual pass to get in free, otherwise it is $10 per person which is a steep price. Lastly Verizon wasn't great unless you had a booster, but ATT was off the charts good.

Plus the resort offered a great weekly rate. I appreciated a dog play area where dogs could be leash free and interact with each other. I also enjoyed the workout and laundry rooms. All in all I had a very pleasant experience. My only complaints were highway noise, which, of course, they couldn't control, and that sites are packed in pretty tightly. But big rigs seemed to be able to get in and out OK and I had plenty of space for myself and my trailer so I can't complain. Yes, I would be very pleased to return.

There is plenty of activity during the day ( kids, pet walking, joggers, people exercising, etc.) which ma kes it feel like a micro neighborhood. Because of this, I appreciated that quiet hours were enforced not just recommended. I was getting 3-4 bars on Verizon and around 20-30 mbps of 4g data speeds. It was a great place to WFH. You will get a bit of road noise from the highway, but not to bad. Overall, lovely place to stay and a bonus if you want to hit up the casino, as it is just across the highway.

Called Distant Drums and they let us pay over the phone and had a packet ready for us when we arrived. A really nice touch is they have night security and he was waiting when we arrived, grabbed our pocket for us and escorted us to our site, helped us back and came back a little later to check on us and see if we needed anything. It’s a very well kept RV Park with a lot of really nice rigs in it. We normally stay off grid or camp at federal camp sites. The whole area around Sedona was pretty booked and we couldn’t count on checking NPS sites. Distant Drums has a hot tub, pool, laundry and showers. We used all of it as a good refresher before we go back off grid. They are full hook up which allowed us to dump and refill our Winnebago View. They also have propane service so we took advantage of that. Staff were super friendly and helpful with advice on what to go see while in the area. As a bonus, there is a casino a mile away and they provide shuttle service if that’s your thing. We stopped on our way out of town, collected an extra $135 and left ????

Lots of potlucks, bunko, etc. Lots of long-term residents during the winter especially. It's about a 30 minute drive to Cottonwood and 45 minutes to Sedona, so lots to do in the area. The monthly rate is one of the lowest I've found. Shuttle service to a casino if that's your scene, and it's right across the highway from the national monument (a very cool site). The available sites were listed on the board next to the office. We filled out some paperwork and then paid in the morning. Since we wanted to stay the week, we had to move to a new site and the RV park insisted that one of their staff members guide us to it. This would have been fine, except we were crunched for time and the person taking us to the site didn't know the correct site number and once he got the correct number, he didn't know where it was. We ended up guiding him to it.Overall, our stay was pleasant. Sites are relatively close together without any privacy between them. It appeared that she realized that she was wrong and that we were in fact still booked on the site, but she never changed her tone, apologized, or even made a slight suggestion that she was in error and a complete a** hole.????????We chose this park, in part, because they had an amazing hot tub and pool. We enjoyed it almost every day for the first 2 weeks, and then one freezing night we scurried over to the pool area to see a sign that said it was closed for repair. We were so bummed, but hoped it’d be a quick fix. I went into the office the next day to find out when it’d be back up and running and learned it was closed indefinitely as they were completely refinishing the pool area. Now I realize maintenance and updates are necessary, but surely this was planned in advance and yet we weren’t informed when we were booking, when we checked in, or when the work started... and if we had we might have made other arrangements.????????Pros:▪️Hot tub/pool when in service▪️15-30 min drive to Sedona, Cottonwood (with parks impossible to get into for extended stays)▪️Decent connection on AT&T hotspot▪️Clean park, garbage pick up▪️Club house and bathrooms were nice▪️Small fitness center▪️Book exchange▪️Near Cliff Castle casino and Montezuma’s CastleCons:▪️Aforementioned experiences▪️Neon casino sign lights up your RV w/ flashing lights at night▪️Super close campsites▪️Cement pads are not level at all▪️Neighbors who play bagpipes every day for 1.5 hours▪️Highway/road noise????

It's nice to see some order to that process which can sometimes be a bit messy and or the spaces available for it are not nearly big enough. We checked in and were escorted to our site but two guys who worked there. Everyone who worked there was very polite. They helped me back in which was a much bigger deal than need be because the spaces are made without an inch to spare on either side if you expect to get your slides out. We finally got in there, got leveled and put out the slides. That was when one of our cables snapped. But that's another story.Once I disconnected the truck and parked it next to Firefly on the pad there was no other space available. There was a picnic table behind us on a 45 degree slope but we couldn't tell if it was ours or the people behind us. Nobody could have used it at any rate. The whole park is very nicely landscaped and kept up very well by the staff there. Unfortunately the tiny spaces make it seem very claustrophobic. If you want to sit outside you had to either sit under the pin area on a 5th wheel or just about in the road.Like many RV parks it is built right on a highway which provides pretty much constant noise. Not enough to keep us awake though. And of course the WiFi is unusable unless you are down at the club house. But again this is true of most RV Park WiFi. If you are thinking as we usually do that you will just use your own Jetpack for internet access you can forget that too. We went back and forth between no bars and one bar of Verizon 4G. I imagine if you had a cell booster antenna you might be able to get by but we don't have one. There is also a very nice swimming pool that we took advantage of several times while we were there. It's always very clean and vacuumed. Next to the pool is a hot tub. Best of both worlds. There is no shade so I imagine it can get pretty hot poolside if the weather is very warm. All in all it's a very pretty and well kept park. I would probably give it 3.5 stars because of the small spaces and poor WiFi. Fine for a night or two but difficult for longer stays

  • A nice resort, but the regular sites are crammed in too close together for comfort.

In our section of back-in sites, motorhomes and fifth wheels were crammed together with their tow vehicles like a jigsaw puzzle, and the park was 100% full. Cars get parked next to their motorhomes on the camping side, with the row behind offset by one so that our motorhome backed up to our neighbor's car behind us, and their motorhome was backed in almost to our car. Thus, sites overlap, there is little or no "camping space" available, and parts of motorhomes or trailers are literally right next to the motorhome in the row behind. I've never seen overlapping sites like this before. There were other parts of the resort that had more expensive sites with better spacing. Decorative shrubs along the side of our site made it difficult to get into our wet bay to hook up our water and sewer. On the bright side, our site was very level. After we checked in we were told to wait for an escort to our site. Unfortunately we waited 20 minutes (no exaggeration) for an escort to take us the 200 yards to our site. After the first 15 minutes of waiting I asked the desk if I could just drive there myself but they said due to liability reasons we have to wait for an escort. We saw several of the WiFi access points with strong signal but were never able to connect to any of them. Our Verizon and AT&T worked well. There is a decent-sized fenced dog park, and a dirt road leading out of the campground to a Forest Service road which was great for longer walks. Despite the proximity to the interstate, highway noise was not a major problem, which was nice. We were able to receive a UPS delivery at the resort, which was another plus. Electric worked very well, but water pressure was low. We filled our tank (slowly) and used our RV's water pump instead. We might stay here for a night or two in the future when we need full hookups, but might look for someplace a little less cramped instead.

This place is mostly big rigs and spots are super close together. But...they are paved and the place is clean and well-kept. All good, would stay again when passing through.

They asked if I was ok with partial hookups (I was) and I was put in a perfect sized spot close to the pool, hot tub, laundry room and shower. The $14 price reflects both partial hookups and the use of my Passport America membership.A park employee guides you to your site in a golf cart and then helps you back in and get level. If you leave your garbage out during the day they'll come pick it up for you. Facilities are clean and extensive, including private showers and a small fenced dog park.Neighbors were quiet and the views of the surrounding mountains weren't bad either. Close to the highway but I couldn't hear it from my spot. Verizon service was a bit overloaded, and wifi wasn't consistent to connect.Service was exceptional and the park was clean. Great stop for a night or longer.

Great access to all of the surrounding sites that I wanted to see including Sedona. Very close the casino with a great $8 breakfast buffet. The people at the park were extremely friendly and professional. The sites were large enough and kept clean and tidy.

We did visit Sedona but ended up having more fun in Camp Verde. We visited Montezuma's Castle and V-Bar-V petroglyphs. Such a nice surprise. The campground was level, clean and VERY well maintained. We had no problem getting into our site. We used the laundry facilities and while not all of the washer and dryers were functional there were more than enough for our needs. If we are ever in the area again we would gladly stay here again.
