There are designated RV sites with hookups (not sure if they're full hookups or partial), which are basically just a row of back-ins without any privacy in between. These are right up against the road and are convenient to the store, gas station, laundry room, restaurant, showers and bathrooms. But there's a dry camping area that is LOVELY, surrounded by trees with huge pull-throughs, providing lots and lots of privacy, and if you're boondockable, that's where you should camp. We were nearly alone on that side of the park during our entire stay.We left our RV for a couple of nights and drove our truck into McCarthy, staying at a hostel there. The good folks at Kenny Lake Mercantile knew were were gone and watched over our rig for us.The only down-side of staying here is there isn't much to do in the area. A trip to Glennallen is in order for groceries and other amenities. But it's a great launching point for Wrangell-St. Elias, or just a quiet, peaceful place to camp.
