Ok so this park isn’t perfect but it does have some things going for it. Pros: Centrally located between Prescott and Prescott Valley. Very strong wifi. Cool location in the rocks above Watson Lake. Cons: Dusty. Store/office still closed (March 2022) due to Covid ????‍♂️

Have stayed/reviewed here before, this time we stayed in a standard site. Little bit smaller than premium site. Standard sites are a little small for my taste. Used the bathrooms this time. Older bathroom's, very clean though. Hiked the trail to the lake. The trail goes through a park that is great for kids or to let pups run.

  • Great location, Natural Beauty.

We really enjoyed being so close to the Granite Dells and Lake Watson. It is also only minutes away from Old Downtown Prescott. Although the office was closed due to COVID-19, an employee came out and greeted us and pointed out brochures they have made up for different local activities. I picked up the Biking and Hiking brochure and it was well written and correlated well with the online research I’d done for the area. Our site was easy to find. Park roads are narrow and gravel with a few turns that are a bit of a challenge in a larger RV. Our travel trailer made it around though with little effort. Our site was a back in site with full hookups and all worked as they should and were in good repair. The site wasn’t large, but it wasn’t small either. There were some trees and rocks that helped with privacy, but it is cozy as far as neighbors go. The turn into and out of the park is a bit of a challenge to find and to manage given it is on a hill and turn meaning it is hard to see when approaching from the North and hard to see Southbound traffic when turning left out of the park.

Mosquito's were terrible, could not go out at night without spraying, and same thing was trued for day time even though temps were in the high 80's, low 90's. Attribute that to monsoon rains, but mostly lack of maintenance with an excess of weeds and grass for them to take shelter. Numerous dead and dying trees throughout park. Could be a real hazard in high wind conditions. Sites are extremely close to each other, little to no privacy.. Mixture of long term and transient campers. One of the most expensive RV parks we have stayed at, way overpriced for what you got. $51 a night, just not right.

Nice campground in the Granite Dells. Sites are pretty tight. Our big complaint is the dry dusty roads. Our coach and car looked like we had been boondocking for a week. They should oil or water the roads. Had cell service on Verizon. Quiet during the night. Close to town. Able to Mtn. Bike and gravel bike right from campground.

The campground is quiet and everyone is very friendly. The check-in process was all done on-line and over the phone due to the pandemic requirements. We showed up at 1:00pm and our information was posted on the bulletin board with a map detailing the best way to the site. Ours site had trees on both sides with plenty of privacy and there was a pleasant breeze blowing most of our stay. The only issue is that it’s easy to miss the campground if your coming in from the north on Hwy 89 because the driveway is a left turn just past a curve in the road. However, there’s a traffic circle a quarter mile down the road and the return was very easy. The laundry was a great deal at $1.00 wash and $1.00 to dry. The staff I spoke with on the phone were very helpful and friendly. Thanks everyone for making this a great stay!

Beautiful setting amongst the rocks, perfectly placed sites and very friendly staff. I really liked that they have a picture of every single spot on their website, very helpful especially with a big RV. We had a 25’ trailer in tow and our spot accommodated it very well. 15 minutes to the main town, 5 minutes to 89a. Hiking trails were great, saw they even had kayak rentals for Lake Watson. Can not comment on the bathrooms as we did not use them BUT they had trash drop locations in multiple spots which was convenient. Look forward to visiting again!

The hiking, or more like bouldering is amazing and so close to beautiful Watson Lake. No need to park at the lake and pay the fee, you literally can walk to it, it’s that close. We would definitely stay here again. We came in February.

No pet area and there was aggressive dogs that shouldn't have been allowed in the park. There is road noise from the road outside of the park was noisy from idiots gunning their motorcycle or vehicle. No swimming in the lakes in the area.... not happy about that!

The area is cooler than anywhere south - makes a great getaway for month of May at 5400ft.This campground is conveniently located near Watson Lake - just a 1/4 mile or so to the boat ramp where you can rent a Kayak for the day at only $25 for one person. The sites are spacious, especially the premium ones -well worth it. Site 64 especially has a small cove next to it where you can set up chairs with friends with trees that shade the sun. It is also close to the trail head.Sites and roads are dirt but fairly level. The hookups are very convenient. No troubles. Plenty of shade with trees and rocks all around.Easy to get OTA Digital from CBS and ABC, but not so with NBC. Phone no problems with AT&T. WiFi is free but works sporadically.Be careful of the wind if it gets to 20mph or so, as it creates a natural dust devil or funnel every few minutes that carry across into the site from the road and make for a very dusty RV. Hard to breathe with all the dirt in the air. Also, there are ants everywhere you go in this area unless you stay on top of the rocks themselves. There's a shooting range nearby which sounds like firecrackers going off constantly throughout the day. Traffic from nearby roads and construction noises as well. Pick a site away from the bottom of their map which overlooks this.Check out the trails at the far end of the upper campground as well as the two trail heads from each side of the ramp area. Fantastic scenery, especially around sunset!

We wrecked our rig and truck and after dealing with insurance, found a new rig and truck in Prescott, so we headed that way. We stayed in Prescott for 4 weeks (1 week in a hotel) and 3 weeks at the campground. I mention this because we knew absolutely nothing about Prescott and it turned out the be a wonderful experience. The campground is nestled in among the Dells and these giant rocks are gorgeous. We hiked on and through the rocks daily. It is a 10 minute(ish) walk to Watson Lake and a 5 minute drive to a parking area for Wilson Lake. The recreation area parking for Wilson Lake is probably 15 minutes away. Both areas are amazing and full of so much outdoor recreation. We hiked, kayaked Watson Lake, hunted for wildflowers, found lizards and ducks, played in the field at Watson Lake, and enjoyed our mostly shaded campground sites. The campground has showers and bathrooms. We used the showers a couple times and there is plenty of hot water and they are well cleaned. The sites are roomy and with the exception of one weekender family that rolled in for Easter, the place was quiet and everyone was respectful. The people working there were friendly and worked with us as we adjusted our schedule to meet our needs. The campground is also near(ish) to many restaurants and grocery stores. Downtown is 10-15 minutes away. There are also many other outdoor recreation areas in the general vicinity of Prescott, but due to Covid19, we did not check out anything other than what was right nearby. The whole area is gorgeous. The Dells are fantastic and beautiful. There weather was perfect in March.

The bathrooms were clean and well-maintained. The sites had trees and shade. The roads and the sites are not paved nor do they have fresh gravel, which made them dusty. Route 89 is pretty close and provided traffic noise early in the morning and late in the evening. There is a firing range not too far away, and one evening it was very active until almost 9 pm. We came here after a busy couple of weeks in Phoenix and wanted to relax and get on with work in a quiet environment. Point of Rocks certain provided that.Every morning we walked out of the back gate right near our site and walked up the path, often climbing over the rocks. The rocks are super grippy so it feels like you could almost walk vertically. The dogs loved the adventure.Located next to the park is a lake, which you can easily walk to on the front side of the campground. We walked over there and it's beautiful. There are paths around most of the lake which is fun to walk, definitely need to be able-bodied. We even managed to find a pathway from the lake back up the rocks to the back end of the campground, which was fun to explore.Location #57 was easy to back into and had plenty of space for our 45'. The car parked at the side of the RV. We backed up to rocks, which was very pretty and private. If you are in a van or <30' RV you can get in even closer to the rocks. Cell data service was variable. Sometimes we had 10mbps, sometimes 1mbps. I guess it was the lay of the land and the rocks. I suspect different sites will have different performance. The saving grace was the WiFi was actually pretty good! It is across microwave links from the office so it could get impacted by wind or a bird flying by or something, but it was very workable and we did some conference calls and video calls over it. Just a note on T-Mobile, if you have a newer phone that supports the long distance band (600MHz) it is noticeably better.Highly recommended for a quiet location near to civilization.

We stayed two nights and paid $43 per night for full hookups. Previous reviews indicated this was a very popular location but a couple of sites were open when we called the morning of our arrival and we were assigned site 96, a pull-through. We arrived a couple of hours after the office closed at 5pm, but the staff had provided a personalized map with welcome information pinned to a bulletin board. This allowed us to find our site and set up without problems. The next morning I completed check-in at the office with the friendly staff.Site quality = 4/5. Point of Rocks has lower and upper loops with gravel roads and pads. All sites are closely tucked together among trees and the many of the upper loop sites are between the large granite rocks that comprise this Granite Dells area. Most sites are back-in with many only suited for more petite trailers or coaches. The park’s 94 sites were completely full upon our arrival and 90% full for our second night. Site #96 fit our 33-foot coach with plenty of extra room on entrance side for our awning, chairs and propane grill. Almost all pads had a very manageable mild slope but that appeared inevitable due to building the campground on granite! Hook-ups were 50/30/20 amp electric, water and sewer. Each site also had a picnic table but no fire rings or wood fires were allowed.Facilities = 4/5. Each loop had a shower/bathroom facility that was functional but not otherwise noteworthy. Trash bins were conveniently located and collected by the staff each morning. Recycling was not available. 4G AT&T and Verizon cell service was four-to-five bars. Numerous WiFi antenna provided complete coverage which allowed email and document upload and rarely ran slowly even though the park was near capacity. Our TV antenna booster pulled in 12 stations including three of four major networks.Area = 5/5. We chose this campground for it’s proximity to the Granite Dells plus the town of Prescott and were not disappointed. A hiking trail from the campground gave us quick access to Watson Lake and we hiked along the shoreline enjoying the views. We later took a ride share (Uber, Lyft and Taxi service readily available) into Prescott’s historic downtown and enjoyed checking out several brewpubs, bars and local shops. Granite Mountain Brewing had a selection of IPAs and nice English Brown Ale. Cortez Street Emporium is packed full of knick-knacks but also sells T-shirts for charity that honor the 19 hotshot firefighters lost fighting the Granite Mountain Yarnell fire in 2013. Prescott has plenty of fuel, grocery stores, restaurants, and RV supply places within a few miles of the campground.Overall rating = 4.5Summary: A very nice stopover in a beautiful setting.

We arrived early and they did not give us a hassle about checking in about an hour before their standard check in time. Loved our site - it was roomy and private relative to some of their other sites. I love the trees and rocks around the campground. It is a no frills place to stay - but that’s what I like about it. There is an easy path to Watson Lake - which is absolutely gorgeous. There is a 4.7m loop around the lake which is a fun, easy rock scramble path. Lots of trails to run, walk or hike on. Convenient location to downtown - but you are far enough from the city that you feel like you are remote camping.Wifi at campground was good enough to do emails - it would slow down at times, but for the most part we were able to use it for just about everything we needed to do.The entrance to the campground sneaks up on you when you are going south on 89 - so slow down when your GPS tells you are getting close. Good thing is there is a traffic circle just past the entrance, so if you miss the entrance you can go around the traffic circle and come back to the entrance very easily.

So even though you can see the town from the campground, it's just a short walk to feel like you're away from it all.The lower loop seems like it's more for long-term stays. The upper loop has more nightly campers like us. The sites are close together, but most have small trees and shrubs to create a more private atmosphere. Restrooms and showers were clean and centrally located. WiFi was spotty and slow. The road isn't far away, so you can hear cars often. Neighbors were friendly and considerate. The office staff was friendly in person. Making reservations was more of a hassle with having to place an online inquiry first and waiting for them to call you back. I prefer online reservation systems, but it's not a big operation and the staff is helpful once you get to talking to someone. The hook-ups were fine, but we had to move to move and dump at another open site on the way out; the sewer was in the back of our site and our hose wasn't long enough. The kids loved climbing on the rocks. Our site didn't back up to them, but we'd try for one of those sites if we go back. Scrambling on the rocks is something kids would enjoy doing all day long, but we did take the kayak out onto the lake, mountain bike, and hike a portion of the Lake Loop trail. If you take the trail to the left of the launch ramp, it's about a mile to the bottom of the dam. There is a beautiful lush landscape down there! Totally unexpected among all the rough rocky terrain. All that green was a sight to see for us Arizonans, and since they were releasing water from the dam we even saw a "waterfall." :) We enjoyed our weekend, and Point of Rocks was a comfortable and convenient place to stay.

Our first site was on the outside of the loop and backed up to the rocks, which we loved. Our second site was in the center and we had RVs on 3 sides practically looking in all our windows. Sites are ver close, both side to side and back to back. The entire park is dirt so there was a lot of dust blowing around every time someone drove through. I would not want to be here when it was windy! There are a lot of trees and shrubbery, which offers some nice shade. The bathrooms are tired, but extremely clean. The laundry was also very clean. Check in was easy and half the staff were friendly and the other have perfunctory. It was very quiet here at night. We had the windows closed and did not here any road noise. Great location for visiting either of the two lakes - both of which have great nooks and crannies for exploring by kayak. Both also have fun trails to hike. The campground abuts lake Watkins and you can walk the trail to the lake. You can also do some bouldering right from the campground. I would give this one more star if they laid down some gravel.

Not much privacy between a lot of the sites. We were lucky and got a bigger site with good privacy. They were redoing the office when we were here. We were able to get internet access at our site ( and we were in the upper loop in back) although slow at prime times. The best thing about this park is the proximity to Watson lake and Granite Dells. We would stay here again if we could get one of the more spacious/ private sites.

I loved the back up sites near the rear of the campground. This was a great campground in terms of access to Watsons Lake, the hiking trails and other sights in Prescott. You literally leave the campground near site #67 and in a few minutes you are there. As others have noted, no WiFi except at the office.

With the ability to hike or peddle right out the door and easy access to historic downtown and shopping it was a great fit. A quick scramble up the rocks and you have a beautiful view for sunrise or sunset over the lake. The upper loop has great sites that back up against the rocks (we really liked site 58). The sites are closer together in the middle of the upper loop. The lower loop is primarily full timers and we would not stay there. Each site has a picnic table and full hookups. Trees and rocks in the area offer shade and privacy, but do prevent tv reception. We had no issues with Verizon or T-Mobile access. The laundry room is good (and inexpensive). Web access is free at the library and the picnic table out back. Office staff is very nice and accommodating. It is a small family owned resort that feels like a nice small park. We were able to receive packages with no extra charge. Area Attractions - Several breweries (Prescott, Granite, Black Hole) Great mountain biking (the area maps are not very detailed - so do some research ahead of time to figure out what you are getting into). Hiking - The Granite Dells are a fun hike, Thumb Butte, The Peavine Paddling - Watson Lake is a beautiful paddle

This park is definitely a campground over a resort. Dirt roads, no pool, cable, or wifi, but walk out the back of the park and you are in the Granite Dells! It is absolutely spectacular. We rock scrambled everyday, went rock climbing twice, and drove across town for some mountain biking. We also road our bikes over to Watson Lake and did some exploring there. We were too early in the season to rent kayaks, but it looked like it would be a beautiful paddle. We kept extending our stay day by day because we didn't want to leave. The best and biggest sites are along the back loop right up against the rocks. 56F was definitely a favorite and we will request this one next time we go!

Hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, etc. This is an outdoor enthusiasts dream. While the park isn't a "Resort," it is located in one of the most amazing places I've ever seen in my travels. They do daily and weekly rates, the staff is friendly and very informative about all there is to do. The sites are all nestled in among the beautiful granite boulders, a playground right outside your door. The park has dirt roads and sites which create a large amount of blowing dust making for a very dirty stay. Some sites are large with room to sit outside and some privacy. Our site was narrow with some scrub trees and our neighbors were quite close. The office personal were very friendly and helpful. The WiFi is only available at the office. Rooftop satellite dishes might have difficulty in many sites between the trees and rocks. We would stay here again only because of the location.
