The site was the only site that didn’t have a concrete pad next to the spot and so on the night it rained I woke up in the morning to red clay going everywhere. The river side is exclusive to those people that have paid for beach use and or cabana use. They charged $20 extra for a small dog and you have to walk into the state park to find a dog run. The state park which is separated by an open gate where are you can walk through has full access to the beach has full hook ups for Boondocking and I think if ever I need to go this way that’s where I’ll be staying. The owner replied to a email and said that everything was transparent when booking and if this is so why send me a receipt showing what I paid for a deposit and what was owing. Don’t expect to use their Wi-Fi because it keeps kicking you off and don’t try using your phones because there’s no signal. The amenities close at five and overall just a bad experience.
Tight but doable

If you like rude management and staff, staying in a large dirt parking lot surrounded by trailers on 3 sides with about 6" of space between you and the other trailers that surround you and spaces crowded with extra vehicles, trailers and side by sides; then this is the place for you. Their Wi-fi service is non existent on the weekends and there is no cell phone service or TV service, even though they claim there is. Beach access is limited strictly to the front row, anyone else wishing to access the beach must go to the county park next door. If you would like a better experience at a fraction of the cost and pleasant customer service I highly recommend staying at La Paz County Park. While the county park is 1st come 1st serve they almost always have availability and also offer month rate pricing, for about a 1/3 the price of Pirates Den, and their nightly rate which includes electric and taxes all in is $30.00 a night. I'm not sure why people continue to return to Pirates Den. Almost everyone you talk to has nothing good to say about park staff or the manager LORI! I can not understand why upper management continues to keep her around, and as this park is managed as a concessionaire park, I do hope that La Paz county takes into consideration the reviews of her rudeness when up for renewal. I highly advise you request and read each of the 4 pages of rules which they state you receive when booking the reservation, however, we were not given ours until check-in. The rules have very little to do with what you can do, but does offers 4 pages of what you can not do with the fines listed for any infraction. 30 years of Rving across multiple states, Canada and Mexico, this was by far the worst experience ever.Contrary to the management’s belief that you are a hostage and they are in control, This is still America and as a consumer I have choices! Lori, this review has nothing to do with the price we paid. It does however detail true facts about the park and your rudeness to customers.
Very disappointing

Small dirty spot full of poopAnd for the price they charge, there was not one street light at night. Might of helped to deter the coyotesNot EVER again

Pirate's Den doesn't lie when the slogan on the staff shirts says, "A sunny spot for shady people!". Believe it. We were meeting up with my full-timing parents and this was the place they picked. Why?! The monthly rate, right on the river, and Lake Havasu City close-ish by seemed like a great deal. We ask a lot of questions prior to booking a site. They kept trying to put us into a site (74A) and kept talking about how a trailer wouldn't fit in there, but (somehow) a 34' bus would fit just fine. Upon further questioning, we found out that we would have to pull forward into the spot, because of a hanging tree, which would negate a river view and would also make it a little awkward because we would be staring right into the windshield of the rig parked behind us. So, if they tell you a site that has a letter behind it, please know there is something a little fishy about it. The rest of the sites, although facing the river, are tight. Your neighbor will be on their patio right next to your rig, so when they play Toby Keith's "Red Solo Cup" four times in a row on a Wednesday night, all singing at the top of their lungs, well, grab a cup, because you're part of the party now, too. It rained a lot while we were there in December and the soil in the campground must be clay, because it became a red, muddy fiasco of watching people trying to drive, walk, or get their rigs out. Deep, slick, sucking mud everywhere. There is a restaurant on premise, The Black Pearl, that serves an awesome breakfast. The best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. Having the restaurant onsite was really nice. We enjoyed the outdoor bar, as well. The sunsets were amazing every single night. Since we stayed here for the month, we had mail delivered. A word to the wise: Know exactly what mail/purchases are coming here, when, and look to see who signed for it on your tracking number. When we asked for our mail, we were immediately told on several occasions they didn't have anything for us, when we would literally stand on our tiptoes, peak behind the desk, and (knowing what we had purchased) would point and say, "That's what we ordered. It's right there.", to which they would reply, "Oh", with no apology. Everything had our name on it. They just seem so incredibly indifferent to trying to do a good job. The front office actually sent one of our larger purchases to the restaurant and had it in the storage room there. We kept asking, and asking for it, and they kept denying and denying, and finally we told them what date it had arrived and who had signed for it. Turns out it was in the storage room for the restaurants use. So, be on top of it with your mail and purchases here. There is a laundry room. It's very small with four washers/four dryers. You have to pay a $40 deposit for the key to the laundry room. Typically, there is always one washer down and it's not their fault and they can't refund your money because a completely separate company owns the washers/dryers on their property. What?! The water will stain your whites. I highly recommend a portable water softener because the water here is terrible. We have Verizon. Our bars came up as 1X when arriving (although they swore up and down on the phone that Verizon worked really well) and we pulled 1-2 4G with our weBoost. We did enjoy many of the four wheeling trails. The area is scenic. We had a blast doing the Jeep trail to the Desert Bar. If I was a boater or side-by-side owner, and wanted to have a crazy party week in the summer, this is the place I would stay. And I think that's exactly what they cater to.
