If you prefer trees and quiet, here is your place. It's an older campground, that is being revitalized by the new owner. Clean, friendly and wonderfully priced. We arrived Friday afternoon and were greeted by Chris, the host/manager. Spoke to him several times throughout our stay, and he was pleasant and helpful. He told us about "On the River" tub/kayak outfitters just a few miles north on rt. 8 above Floyd, VA. We paddled the river on Sunday afternoon. We didn't have VA fishing licenses, so we didn't take our rods, but it looked great for small mouth.(the two images attached are of my boy on the river, and he and my nephew at the take-out)Showers/bath clean and nice.Swing set and slide for the kids.Large picnic shelter w/grill and lights.A small pond that one of our dogs swam in.They said it was stocked, but kids only caught one or two small bluegill.Wifi was OK. In the morning I had it all to my self and it ran great, but on the evening it rained, I think everyone was on it and it bogged down. (Chris said they are working on it also)My cell phone (tracfone/iphone) worked for voice and text, but my sister's had only 1 bar (don't know what her phone/service is).I think it only has 20 amp service. Chris said that the 20 amp service is fine for his mid-sized RV. He said he just doesn't run more than one or two appliances at a time. (They are planning to up grade the electric at the end of this season, or next year.) We were there in early July of '21, and due to the higher elevation, didn't need to run the ac in our popup.
