It worked out fine for us to request a site online however, I feel that they could have more sites filled if there were a phone number for those campers that would prefer this option. If it weren't for that simple change, I would have given the campground more stars.Check in was easy. We arrived late and checked in the next morning. Texting with the contact person was easy and response was quick. There was a January booking special that we took advantage of which included a $50 gift certificate to Dorado's Dive Club. The food was awesome. Highly recommend. Something to consider to those that may have respiratory health issue. There was a smog issue one of the days we were there. I'm not sure if this is a regular issue but you might want to check out the air quality before booking. The site was perfect. It's the closest we've ever camped near the Gulf. The staff were accommodating and friendly.

Went down for a few nights mid-week in the coveted Site 1. I'm submitting pics of the views. Had no problem with water pressure this time. Staff was very friendly. Wifi was good.
Small, quiet park steps from the beach.

It is easy to find, easy to get in and out. Spaces are a little close together but not too bad. It's just a few steps down to the beach. It's right on Blue Water Highway, but still fairly quiet as it's upwind from the road.Surfside is ranked the 3rd best beach on the Texas Gulf Coast. If you're used to blue water, white sand beaches, this isn't that. But it's nice enough, reasonably clean and great for long walks. Or letting the wind blow through your hair. See pics.Full hook-ups at every site. Water pressure was a little low (30psi), also confirmed with our neighbor the same. The best sites by far are 1 and 9, as they are closest to the beach. We booked site 1 to go back for a few nights in about a month. 9-11 are very long pull-through sites. 1-8 are plenty long for almost any trailer. Staff and fellow campers were very friendly. There is a communal fire pit area next to the beach path. If the weather is nice enough to leave the windows open and the AC off, you can hear the waves from the park. The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is that it is a park (row of RV spots) rather than a more spacious state park or open resort. But it's probably as nice as any RV spot up and down the coast for many miles and a reasonable price. Good fishing & crabbing opportunities nearby. A 10-minute drive or less to decent restaurants. Speeding limits are strictly enforced on Blue Water Highway. Every time we went up or down it we saw a car pulled over by police.
