It was a big gravel lot. The power was set so 2 neighboring units would be very close. Not aesthetically pleasing. Did have all the utilities. Works as a base camp to explore Big Bend or store your trailer while rafting. WiFi only at the store. Did not use any of the public spaces, like showers.

We stayed for 5 nights and the location was just okay. Amenities were the biggest perk: laundry, convenience store there, gas station there (for cheaper than they had at the next closest station). But the place itself was run down and the people were rude and unwelcoming. I wouldn’t stay again.

We stayed in the “Strip” area and the sites were level and open. Located on lightly traveled road. Few others in the area so it was quiet but if full there could be a lot of noise. No cell service but RV park had WiFi. Low lights so night sky was wonderful. Easy access to Big Bend.

Camping in the desert is going to be hot in the daytime. There is no shade. Stillwell RV Park fits into that category. The “strip” is basically a big gravel lot. There were no tables or shelters. We had 30 amp service and water. There were three RVs there including us, with room for many more. The people we had contact with were very nice. There is gas available at the office but no diesel fuel. The big plus is it is located just outside Big Bend National Park. I think every RV Park within a couple of hundred miles is going to be about the same. If you’re looking for a pool or other amenities, this place ain’t it. It is what it is - convenient.

Cell coverage was nonexistent, another plus.

The two locations nearest the store; also your check-in location, offer full hook ups. However, be careful when you book as not all the sites have 50amp service. The larger lot across the street is their partial hook up area, as well as dry camping and tent sites. If you love being near people, you will appreciate how close you are to your neighbors in full hook ups side (very close together). Parking on the full hookup sides can be an issue as the sites are not long or wide enough to accommodate trailer and tow vehicle for 30ft+. If you have a larger RV with slides you may want to book end sites. The partial hook up/dry camping sections (known as The Strip) will offer the most spacious camping option. There is a dump station close by with non-potable water available for flushing out your black tank. The park has two washers and dryers available for guest use at $1.25 to wash and $1 to dry. There is a small store on site and the museum is a great piece of history and worth taking the time to explore.BE AWARE if you need to work online service the FREE WIFI is not good enough to support your needs. We were able to get some service at our site, it was barely enough to check email and occasionally surf social media. The signal dropped often and the lack of bandwidth made us unplug from reality and enjoy our surroundings. Friends of ours could not get sufficient service even with expensive boosters to work remotely, and had to take the daily 40 minute drive to Marathon during working hours. Note: Inside Big Bend there are stretches where you will have some 3G and 4G service on AT&T. Come prepared with food and basic needs as there isn't much shopping available even in Marathon. If you do find yourself craving a night out Brick Vault Brewery and Barbecue in Marathon won't disappoint. The park entrance at Persimmon Gap is 20 min away, Panther Junction is an additional 30 min drive.

Not much grass area in the desert for dogs, didn’t think of that but duh.

We did not have reservations for the park, those required at least 3-4 days notice at least during the pandemic, probably longer in normal times. This place is simple, and basic but still nice. Sites had water and electric, no sewer connection at least in the area we were in the longer term sites might have, I did not check. There was a dump station in the area so we used both incoming and before we left. They are on a well, so ask for limiting water as much as possible i.e. no vehicle washing etc. Small store with a few necessities. Pleasant owner. Highlight is a museum about a pioneer women Hallie Stillwell. Free just ask for key from owner. Lots of information bout this very interesting women who married a local rancher in early 1900's, lived to be 100 years old, and was a force of nature! Gave a taste of life on the frontier up through modern times. The owner grew up with the Stillwell family and so had some insight as well which he was willing to share. I would go back again, because of how close it is to Big Bend and the pleasant experience. No cell service, and the wifi was slow and intermittent, but that is not why I go RVing so not a problem!

We stayed here on our way into big bend due to the time, the park was already closed. I believe they have hook ups but we literally stayed in a big gravel field across from the store. For that I think $20 is a little steep. But again, it’s the only option east of the park.

It has easy access, and all options for hookups are avail (full by the office, partial and dry in the area across the street known as The Strip which is a wide open level scrub dirt field. Most sites are pull-thrus. They have picnic tables, but when we visited, they were all stacked up as if for storage. I believe we could have brought one over to our site if we had wanted to. Some of the sites on that side had fire rings, and at the far end of the lot were several horse pens available (we saw a group with many horses stay for a few nights during our visit.) There are restrooms, showers, and a laundry room in buildings near the office/store, all of which are operational but very run-down and a wee bit gross. The showers had plenty of hot water. The washers and dryers, while located in what reminded me of someone's ramshackle basement, worked well. It was 1.25-1.50 to wash/dry, and I didn't need more than one dry cycle for a full load. **twice during our 10-day stay, the park's well pump went out, and we were without water for a one full and one partial dayThe park has free wifi which works the best the closer you are to the store but was still usable for us from across the road. We got no Verizon signal at all (good reception in the National Park, however.) There was no OTA TV or radio reception. The store/office had basic items, ice cream, and drinks for sale. They sell propane and gas. We did not visit the small Hallie Stillwell museum. There were never more than 10 campers there at any one time, all were well spread out, and it was very quiet both day and night.Stillwell's, despite its drawbacks, can't be beat especially for the price and its proximity to Big Bend.
Not a bad place to stay if your waiting to get into Big Bend.

Don't expect a resort style park here, this area is very rugged and rustic and the park fits right in. There is a small store with wifi, it appeared to sell gasoline(we didn't inquire), a Hallie Stillwell Hall of Fame Museum, laundry and showers. The park itself is a big sandy lot with hookups, but the surrounding views are amazing. If you have the time take a ride to the end of the road to La Linda, it's a nice, scenic ride with an overlook of Mexico and an old Mission Church at the end.

Great experience! We were pretty far from anyone else but it was still a little noisy due to it being Spring Break and the amount of people present. Stillwell has showers included with the price of a site. Bathroom/showers were clean! I believe they also have WIFI available at the Stillwell store as well. We stayed there in December 2016. We will go back to visit Big Bend again. This is a different experience! The sites are OK but overall you are being brought back to the past. The campground have also a museum to the memory of Ms. Stilwell who had a very interesting life and it is worth the visit.
