First things first: Max, the RV park's owner, is a gem and a half. He is friendly, accommodating, and happy to share tons of historical and tourist info for the area. He also delivers the local weekly paper once a week and checks in to make sure everything is okay. We paid a weekly rate, which was $150 in November 2021. Max offered to convert that to monthly pricing if we decided to extend. This RV seems to have been designed to support the energy/oil/mining workers in the area. The sites are close, but level. There are no picnic tables or firepits. There are some rigs that are staying longer term, but nothing 'permanent'. The park is clean and tidy. While we were here, Max suggested we stay in Site 12, a corner site right up against the river. It was awesome! We watched huge barges trudging down the river day and night from our front windshield. The RV park is right next door to the post office, which does a great job of handling general delivery. The RV park isn't quiet, as it is adjacent to the main road, which hosts lots of heavy truck traffic. There is a train that runs the opposite side of the river (and also down the main street of St.Mary's, the town across the bridge!), although there is no horn noise from that train. The barges create some sound too. However, the noise is very tolerable and consistent. It dies down at night. The rest of the current tenants at the park were quiet. We were able to run down the main road, across the bridge (pedestrian walkway), and through St. Mary's, and onto an island that hosts a national wildlife refuge - an enjoyable route. We don't recommend running/walking up and into the housing areas of Newport, Ohio - lots of untethered dogs who were not friendly. Verizon coverage was excellent.
