Camped here as a kid for about 10 years. Have not been here in 30 years. Old School Family Campground. Tucked back into the woods with easy access to the lake. Site 77 has no sewer, but good for short stay. Just as rough and rocky as t has ever been. Owners seem super nice. Free Pancakes on SATURDAY!!

Since Morrow Mountain books well in advance, we decided to take a last-minute trip to the Uwharrie National Forest. This was the only option in the area. It felt like renting a house in the neighborhood versus getting a hotel room. This is primarily a residential rv park. Some are well maintained, but many were eye-sores. The site that we rented was the tent area since we only needed electricity hook-up. Those site are very narrow and offer little if any privacy. The owners are helpful, even taking you to your site, and if you liked family campground with "amenities" like a pool and rec hall, this might be the place for you. However, it looks much better on the website, and we felt that we couldn't really hang out outside of our camper due to mosquitos and noisy neighbors. There was nothing to really do in the area other than mountain bike or hike in the Uwharrie. It is in a remote area with no cell phone service for us, so the Wifi at the campground was a nice option. The showers and bathroom were fine, but we will definitely only do back to the area if we can stay at Morrow Mountain State Park. It is more affordable and gives you more space and greater sense of nature.
