The site was large enough with a nice canopy overhead for shade. We stayed in a water/electric site, next time we will be spending a tad extra for the full hook-up site. The fire ring was very tiny and sunk into the ground so we used our cooking grate to perform a fire ring upgrade. The pool was large and clean, they also had a bunch of activities to enjoy such as a mining sluice, mini golf, playgrounds for kids and dogs, 2 different jumping pads, lagger ball and other outdoor family games. The staff was very friendly and helpful when we had questions. The camp store was very well stocked and prices were fantastic. Because of COVID the arcade was shut down but would have been fun with lots of games if it was open. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and have already made new reservations for later this year.
Our first attempt with the RV, was great!

The site was VERY empty due to the COVID situation, but still enough people to not be an absolute ghost town. This was our first trip with the Airstream so we were partially learning and partially trying to enjoy the area. Pro's- WIFI IS AMAZING. Like no kidding, amazing wifi. We travel a ton and this rivals our best hotel stays ...moreThe site was VERY empty due to the COVID situation, but still enough people to not be an absolute ghost town. This was our first trip with the Airstream so we were partially learning and partially trying to enjoy the area. Pro's- WIFI IS AMAZING. Like no kidding, amazing wifi. We travel a ton and this rivals our best hotel stays ever. Probably some of that from the park is less than capacity, but on the whole I am guessing its better than most. - Shaded sites with trees close by- Friendly staff- Close enough to the lake for jaunts that wayCon's- The firepits are very shallow which makes stuff a bit tough to light

Coming from the south, you're just starting to get into the North Woods feel when you reach Gaylord and the location helped build anticipation for the rest of the trip into the Upper Peninsula. The campground was fairly empty in mid-June so we had some room, but the sites as a whole are right on top of each other and have very little privacy. They had a small dog park for our dog that was great after a long day of driving and Gaylord has a few stores that made resupplying easy before getting back on the road.
