We were planning to explore Casey, Illinois the next day (which was a GREAT experience!!) and wanted to stay close. We struggled a bit with the price of this one, which came in as our most expensive stay of the entire trip. But we will say that despite the price, the experience was really positive! We arrived late in the day, and the camp hosts came right out to greet us. The gentleman escorted us to our site and even helped Ryan navigate backing in, which was really helpful, since there were vehicles all around us. It was also our first experience staying at a campground where we needed to back in, so it was all new to us.Our site was perfect. It was right in front of the little fishing lake and was so picturesque. We had a fire ring and picnic table, and we enjoyed taking advantage of the nice weather. While we were eating dinner, some large branches from a tree across the way fell on top of the 5th wheel parked in that site. The camp hosts came right out and took care of it, which I thought was impressive. We missed out on the chance to watch cable, which was one of the amenities, because we hadn't thought to bring a cable cord. But this definitely had more amenities than any other place we stayed throughout our trip. The road noise from the nearby interstate bothered my husband a bit, but I didn't even hear it. We appreciated the checklist reminders on the exit sign as we left the next morning. We really had forgotten to put down our antenna, and that was our reminder! This was our first time in a KOA, and while it probably offers more amenities than we would typically use, we felt like this was a good introduction to the park!

Grassy spots (not right on top of each other) with lots of shady trees. Staff friendly and accommodating (we had to adjust our arrival date). We came in after sunset and they were still there to get us registered and show us to our sight. Because it’s so close to. I-70 you hear the highway but it was a good stopover for us.

Don’t understand the bad reviews of this KOA because it is one of the better ones I have stayed in. Sites are level even if it rained there would be a little mud. Hosts were very friendly. Plus they have parts had a flush valve goal on my domestic toilet they had it in stock. The Wi-Fi as normal is useless. Close enough to town you can walk to McDonald’s.

At check-in the people were rude, the place is NOT family or pet friendly. The facilities are old and not maintained. The pool was closed because it was sprinkling (no lightening present or in the forecast). The playground was dangerous for children (eg: old tires used in play equipment with holes that had wire from the belt exposed, an old golf cart with broken parts was in it and the concrete for the bases of the swings were exposed.)The drive into the park was full of potholes. The drives in the park were not much better. The parking pads (gravel) for the campers were not very level and the grass areas between were not level enough to have a lawn chair. The fire pits are old truck rims with no cooking grates and they are near the drive and cannot be moved. The roads in the campground are covered with a green slime that is very slippery. Pets are not allowed to be left alone and pets are not allowed to be walked in the park except for a fenced area outside of the park. No crates for pets nor pet corrals are allowed. Rugs are not allowed. The bathrooms and showers were clean but very dated. Faucets were so old that they don't have mixed (hot and cold) but separate hot and cold faucets. This place as lots of potential but it has not been maintained in a very long time and the people that apparently own and operate it seemed like they don't care and are just riding out their time to retirement. For the price they charge you can park in a local parking lot and have better amenities. Most of the spots will only accommodate a 28 foot travel trailer. The pedestal that I used had a 30 amp outlet the was well worn as such I didn't use my AC in 78 degree humid weather as to not damage my electrical systems.I did not go in the cabins that they offer for rent, nor did I go down that road as access was basically 2-4 inches of water at the time of the gentle rain; but the cabins from the outside looked old and not maintained.

  • Rude hosts, over priced park, lacking in many areas, and rough gravel road.

I'm sorry but my water heater takes like 1/10th the power the air conditioner does, don't feed me BS so you can save money and sell me propane. I spent the money on a park with full hookups for a reason, this was a one night stopover for us... if I wanted to boon dock I would do so for free. She told us the reason the pool opened at 11:00 AM (check out time) was because they had to run tests... I've never stayed at a park that the pool opened that late. It was sunny at 6 AM and 90 degrees outside at 9:00 AM when we stayed... just sayin'. You will get a whole list of things you are not allowed to do, like fishing from the side of a lake without a life jacket on. Unreal. There is also no dog area and you can hear the highway from your site. The drive in is a bumpy gravel road. There is a giant chess board, and there is a place to fish. However for the money you're not getting a nice experience. This place needs new management (or owners who understand camping). I would rather camp at a Cracker Barrel parking lot and have a nice breakfast with a smile for the price.

One of the questions they asked while I was paying was whether we planned to unhook our toad or not. At this point we were not sure whether we were going into town or not. The pull through was barely long enough for our 27' Class C plus our toad. The female clerk that checked us in was courteous, but the man who escorted us to our site was very crabby. We would not stay here again.

Sites were still in the process of being mowed for the first time, so ours was un-mowed since we pulled in before they got to it. Check-in was very speedy. Escort to the site. To get to the front row of sites, you have to pull through the back row of sites. That was odd. Cable TV selection was excellent, especially if you have kids. Verizon was 2 bars on 4G. WiFi was slow and tended to time out way too often....we broke out the Mifi instead. Parking spot was gravel. Lots of shady trees between sites. You can tell this KOA has been around for a while based on the size of the trees. It's like a forest in the middle of farmland. We would stay here again if we needed an overnight accommodation.
