Ponderosa is small, only thirty or so sites. Ten are on the river. They are spectacular! Plenty to do and places to go, but who wants to? Sit at your site and enjoy the river, the mountains, they fly fishing, ducks and hummingbirds. They book a year out. Good luck!WiFi is fine, cell is zip and none.

The bugs were pretty bad in June and we had zero cell service with Verizon. Also, their WiFi didn’t work at all but you don’t stay here for WiFi and cell service. Also there is nothing near you so make sure you have what you need when you get there. The main reason I give this place 3 stars is because we paid for electric and water but were told not to run the AC. If I’m paying for the hook ups, I should be able to run my AC in the summer

Coffee outside along the river watching the sun come up here will be one of those moments we’ll look back on often once we return to the real world.

WE pulled in at about 5pm and there was one river site available. They only offer power and water, but the bathrooms were really clean. The scenery was "epic" in the words of my 6-year old. Fire ring in your site next to the water, picnic table, playground on the end of the campground by the bridge. Looks like it's ideal for fishing...as there were lots of resources posted, a fish cleaning station, etc. The staff was SO friendly...and there were campers there who have been coming every summer for years. We were there the first week in September...it was in the 30s at night. Lots of shallow river beds for kids to run on and play, chase chipmunks, etc. This has been one of our faves...but is definitely roughing it a bit. No cell service (which we loved) and at about 8k feet.
