Everything we had hoped it would be, and more! We made a short driving video of the campground to help show you what to expect from the entry road to the campground: https://youtu.be/aKqbqgn0DdI There aren't enough adjectives to describe the beauty and peace of Frank's Point of View Campground. Perched on top of a mountain with stunning views of Talladega National Forest in the distance, Frank's Point of View gives you an unparalleled experience of serenity, peace, and quiet. In addition to the amazing sunset views, each campsite comes with its own covered shelter that provides you shelter from the weather and privacy from your neighbors. We were in site 5 in our 2022 Grand Design Momentum 397thr, and we had a double carport, so the motorcycle and picnic table were under one bay and the truck in its own spot under the carport. Gary and Tricia are excellent hosts, along with Millie (their sweet dog) who does her best to make you and your four-legged friends feel welcome.Ashland, AL is adorable, with tons of hiking and scenic drives not far away in the Talladega National Forest. Be sure and check out Monte Alban (Mexican restaurant) in Ashland or Farmhouse & Co. in Lineville, AL (5 miles from Ashland) -- so good!! Pros:-- 50 amp, full hook up-- covered carport for your vehicle, privacy from neighbors-- only 8 sites-- price cannot be beat for what you get -- peace, quiet, and unparalleled views -- to be honest, they should charge more!-- trash bins located right next to your site and routinely emptied-- 3 miles of hiking trails on the property-- bird feeders and hummingbird feeders (actively used) at each site-- campground office/store with pool table, card table, book exchange, and several homemade goods (peach jam is AMAZING!) and other items for sale-- extremely courteous, as well as discrete, camp hostsCons:I hesitate to even call this a con, but something to acknowledge. The campground is located at the end of a long gravel road with a few steep hills about 1/2 way through the drive. We did not have to put our truck in 4-wheel drive in order to make it up the driveway, but we also were sure to take it slow and keep our tires rolling the whole time while pulling the camper. Check out our driving video (linked above) to see what we're talking about.Bottom line -- we would stay there again in a heartbeat! Our time at Frank's Point of View will always stand out as a highlight of our time on the Pilgrimage.~ Chris and Jody

There is a swing set, corn hole, and horseshoes for the kids. All sites have a sun canopy over the picnic table, a fire pit, and full hook ups. Be aware that all sites except site #8 have hammock hooks on the canopy. The owners’ dog, Nellie, roams around and is an awesome hostess. She was so friendly and loved the kids. Our dog made friends quickly and we looked forward to seeing her throughout the day. My family and I will definitely be booking here again in the near future!

Gorgeous 360° views from the top of the hill. Camp hosts were so kind and friendly! We saw fireflies at night after watching the gorgeous sunset and moonrise from the hilltop. We stayed an extra night just to take it all in, we didn’t want to leave! Amenities: Full hook ups, a fire ring with firewood for your first night, picnic table under a cover, including a cover for your tow vehicle, level gravel site, swings, corn hole, horse shoes, miles of private nature trails. Lots of small touches that make this so wonderful! The hosts set up bird / hummingbird feeders so there is a lot of activity to watch, deer feeder, and a shade / privacy barrier that does not obstruct views of the mountains! Road leading in is gravel and has two large hills to climb. We didn’t need 4WD but they were quite an incline, worth it to reach the view at the top! The small town of Ashland is about 10 min away with restaurants and grocery. We have a 37’ travel trailer. Great ATT coverage!

ConsNone that I could think of The owners could expand and easily fit 2 or 3 times as many sites, but they don't want to compromise the feel of the place or not allow for every site to have that perfect view. We spent 2 full weeks working, with 2 dogs, a 3yr old and 5 yr old. I loved seeing the kids get to explore in nature and truly felt like we were boondocking in somewhere remote. I'm not usually one to leave a review unless I feel strongly about a place. I want to recommend Frank's though because they are only about a year old and were mostly empty while we were there. I hope they get more business so that they are there when make it back some day!!

Plus Gary and Tricia provide each spot with firewood and all the tools you need to enjoy your time around the firepit! Then they offer firewood for sale on site as well. It is almost like staying with family! Everyone is beyond kind! Gary provided us with propane when we ran out (which was essential because it dropped below freezing a few times at night)The views are absolutely incredible! The trails were so much fun to explore! We found a branch stuck in the trees and created a "rope swing" which provided a needed rest for the kids. I was able to conduct my zoom meetings without any issues on Verizon. Tmobile was hit or miss. we were able to connect tablets and do simple things on the internet but streaming didn't work well. SERIOUSLY can't express how much we loved our time at the Frank's home. After 9 months of being full time this is definitely on our top 5 spots!! ......Actually on second thought I take it all back... you should stay far away because we would love to come back!

There was a mention in a previous review that getting to the campground might be a challenge in a large class. It is not. We are almost 60K pounds with our car in tow and we navigated the hills without any reservations or problems. Ez-peezy.Lastly, the owners are real RV’ers and it shows not only in the sites but in their hospitality! Most excellent! We will be back for the fall colors in 2021.

We were here in early November the leaves were just starting to change. I expect them to be great in the next few weeks. The road in is a little bumpy, but not bad. There are 8 spots, 7 with canopies. All have fire pits and picnic tables. It is a little ways to town, but this is camping for peace and quiet, beautiful night skies and epic sunsets. The owners were extremely nice people. The Verizon cell coverage is 5 bars up at the spots. There are several hiking trails. We did them all. I believe they would be rated relatively easy, but due to a recent storm there were a few branches down. We really enjoyed this benefit as did our dog. Spots are gravel. Everything is clean and well maintained. We saw travel trailers, 5th wheels, B’s and Cs. The road in might be challenging for really large Class As. We will definitely be back, if there’s space available.

The movie “Field of Dreams” came to mind as we considered the owners’ motivation and efforts - they are that committed. The gravel sites are wide, deep and private, each with full hookups, most with a large shade structure, and all with a grand view of the Talladega National Forest. Every sunset is an event, every sunrise a call to explore. The night skies are perfect for stargazing, with the Milky Way prominent on moonless nights. And at 1,100+ feet in elevation, we didn’t experience any mosquitos throughout our June/July stay. Because it is a brand new campground (established in March 2020), it is still possible to reserve a site without planning months in advance. That won’t last long because - like the movie, “they are building it, and they will come.” (Spoiler alert: Frank is not a person, it is the last name of the campground owners (Tricia and Gary Frank), who are generous enough to share their point of view with the rest of us.)We stayed at this campground for several weeks in June/July 2020 in a 27’ travel trailer, and we give it our highest recommendation after 8 years of RV traveling and camping. August 2020 update: the Franks added bird feeders (both seed and hummingbird) proximate to the campsites, and we enjoyed watching a daily parade of birds vying for a meal. There were more hummingbirds than we had ever seen before at one location.October 2020 update: the Franks POV wilderness trails opened this month - well over three miles of marked, mapped trails, accessible from the campground, snaking through forested hillsides and creeks very similar to the established Talladega NF trails.

Beautiful setting, just 8 large gravel sites. The climb up requires some steady acceleration but is doable if you have the torque. The long driveway can be dusty so RV & car washing is allowed which is a great perk. The pavilions (sites 1-4 so far) are very nice and big enough to park a smaller car out of the sun. Hookups, as you might expect, are brand new and logically arranged. In fact, everything is new - fire rings, picnic tables, trash cans. Nellie the collie style mix was very sweet and welcoming to my dog - they explored together which was great. This is a great jumping-off point to explore the forest including all the trails (Pinhoti included) and several mountain biking options. I forgot to ask...who is Frank? T-Mobile and AT&T signals were fine - 20mbps down, 10mbps up.

We like glamping as much as anyone, but also love getting back to nature in a more rustic setting. The park rests atop a large hill overlooking the Talladega National Forest to the west. Sunsets are amazing. There is almost always a breeze (at least) of 5-10 mph prevailing from the southeast, so temps are pleasant in summer and early fall and likely chilly in early spring and winter. Sites are level, spacious and gravel. Canopy sites allow for using them as your 'awning' and we will do that next time. Too much wind for consistent awning use during our stay. Brilliant design by owners. All site facilities are new and very thoughtfully laid out. A laundry is planned, followed by a bath house over the next few months, so be aware that you will need to use your onboard facilities until then. The owners, Gary and Trisha Frank, have built this campground themselves with much tender loving care. They are super friendly and helpful, but are also respectful of their guests' privacy. Access is via a gravel road and is fairly steep in places, so be sure you are aware in case of inclement weather. Ashland is 15 minutes north and has a Piggly Wiggly, gas station, a few local restaurants and diners and a medical facility. Courthouse building is awesome. Walmart and fast food, etc., are available within a 30-45 minute drive west or south. This is a great getaway from "city life" and allows nature's beauty to sink in. Finally, you can hear a pin drop from 20 miles away at night!

Site parking is an east west orientation so you have a view of the sunrise (if you are so inclined) and a sunset that you won't forget. They provide you with free firewood for your first night's campfire and have firewood available you can pick-up and pay for on the honor system. If you want a great relaxing camping experience without the crowds, this campground is the perfect place.
